Do you trust the police?

I don't trust them one bit. Mostly because they don't really seem to trust the general public. I'd also like to add that seeing 5 cops beat up 1 man doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in their skills.

All the police officers I have had interactions with have been decent guys.

I still don't like seeing them in my rearview mirror much,

my brother in law and my nephew are both police officers. I have a least three other relatives who are firefighters. So, I respect and admire all those who put their lives between us and danger. But....
We had one ugly incident where someone in my family was falsely accused of a hate crime. Regrettably we trusted the police. We ended up getting a lawyer, going to superior court and finally to arbitration with the accuser. With all parties around a table, including the rep from the accuser's insurance company, we told our story. By the time we were through the insurance rep had his on the table just shaking it back and forth, like no, no, no...Anyway, on the advise of the accuser's attorney all charges were dropped and there was a settlement in our favor. My point is that we had made the mistake of talking to the police without a lawyer and allowed them into our house without a warrant. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Never ever do that even when you know you're innocent.
I a trusting person, too trusting probably. But I learned my lesson the hard way.

Police used to be called PEACE OFFICERS. Now they're called LAW ENFORCEMENT. Enough said.

That is so true. We are forced to obey and we have no choice.
You know, police do not save lives, the investigate murders.

Some are good and some are bad.

HELL, NO! There ARE some good ones, but even more BAD ones!

With the constraints our legal system has put on them, they do a pretty good job.

No, I have explained many times.

Where I come from, when you see a police car or officer, you turn and run the other way.
That isn't an indication of guilt; it's the appropriate reaction.

I once had a bad experience... I was beaten up by a drugged up boyfriend. I DID NOT know he took drugs until it was too late.
The police got called by a neighbor and the BF had opened the front door before he started hitting me... I was fighting back.. The police walked in as I manged a kick to the knee..... they saw it.. I am the one that got arrested with a bloody nose, sprang wrist and a big knot forming on head. The next morning I had a big black eye.. They let him stay in my apt... He stole my notebook and the money from my purse...... With me telling them He will steal me blind . My son had to come get me out and take me to the hospital. Police let my blood pressure soar to dangerous heights.... The charges on me were waived as they saw the mistake but it took months . Over zealous cop ! SO no, I don't trust police much. They could see he had no marks on him at all and he was over 6ft...... and I was bloodied when the took me out.. SO , I am very careful and watch what I say around the police ....... They are human and they do screw UP !!!
Had never ever seen the inside of police car, had never really ever talked to a policeman or even had a ticket before that incident. My son ran his butt off before I ever came home.

My daughter was stalked and attacked by a police officer at her job.
he got fired but did no time, didn't even get probation, but let me run into
him he'll get what he deserves

yes if police aren't too harsh just talking normal voice tone..if police talking off base then I'll know not to trust..

Yep I married a female cop. The good ones are great people. And every group has its bad ones.

I don't trust anyone. I deal with people and that is it.

My father was a police officer for over 25 years, I grew up in a positive light with police. Police has ran in my family for 3 generations. I don't like how some people don't like police, just because of one or two officers. I mean, I get yes, their are SOME bad officers out there but 99% of them are genuine nice people. Plus they put their lives at stake for us every day and night !

i trust the british police.
from their reputation, i don't trust the US police.

I have never had any trouble with a police officer.They were always very professional
and polite.

They are corrupt and useless in my country.

I will not let a group of men and women who take on gangs, drug dealers, murderers, road ragers, child molesters, rapists, kidnappers, batterers, psychopaths, violent drunks, and drunk drivers every day and put them away working to keep us safe, be maligned by those with an insane entitlement mentality that can't control themselves and act in a civilized manner, or by those few cops that do act abhorrently. I will not view the vast majority of police through the eyes of the ridiculous few.

No, I don't trust much, if not all, of the polices because they've given me reasons not to, and have still not yet given me reasons to trust them.

Not really undecided. I don't place complete trust in ANY person except my wife probably. But although a lot of cops get into the profession for honorable reasons they soon get tunnel vision and veiw EVERYONE else as a potential crimminal. They also get a very serious case of Superiorority.

When than is a crime they are there.

When seconds count the cops are just minutes away.

i will nvr completely trust police so long as they are human, being someone who is supposed to uphold the law does not make them any less susceptible to common human habits to abuse power. not all are that way, but u can nvr truly know who

In general I do. Any time I've dealt with one it's been a good experience. That's doesn't mean there aren't bad ones out there. There are bad in any group of people.

I'm gonna be one. Grew up in a cop family, they are human like the rest of us. Not out to get you and write tickets. Don't let one incident spoil a profession for you, there's bad plumbers too.

Some! I have a good friend that's one--imagine me--w/ that..lol-- but.. my cousin-way younger-he's one and I KNOW he's above board--why? He quit one department he worked for 'cause of all the corruption..so--joined another smaller one-but is more happier there...he's very decent!!~

I've the extent of their jurisdiction/authority, and what they presume under "color-of-law", which does not apply except through contract.
