I do NOT tolerate liars. I won't have them around me. Why would I waste my time on someone that I can't even trust to speak reality?

A liar is reminiscent of the boy who cried wolf: untrustworthy.

Since none of us are any more honest with others than we are with ourselves, I'd have no friends if I didn't understand the nature of lying. Research has yet to find people who don't lie, but they may not have checked the Dalai Lama. "Lying" by Bok is a good read.

Atheists lie constantly when losing debates.
I nail Atheists for their lies, but tolerate them because I expect Atheists to lie. They have no basis for moral truth.

Liars suck. I don't like dishonesty.

I'm not sure you clearly understand the meaning of the word "tolerate". Suggest you look it up. Then after that, look up "bigot". Compare and contrast.

Ofcourse the very young such at toddlers really have no idea but by the time they are 7 and older they should have been raised to know lieing is wrong and not be doing it. The older the liar the less tollerate I am. Unfortunately this is a hugely populated world and we have to deal with them. Sometimes if they are at your workplace you might be forced tolerate them. That does not mean you have to buy into what they are selling.

I found out a close relative has a habit of embellishing and outright changing his version of events that supposedly happened in order to make himself look good and others look bad. Now I can't trust a word that comes out of his mouth, and I wonder how many scams he's pulled on me in the past.

We all tell white lies now and then. "no honey that dress does not make your ass look fat" LOL. Well you get my drift. Sometimes we tell white lies to not hurt someones feelings. I have met people that are just chronic liars and I can't stand them. They lie even when they don't have to.

Don't know exactly what you mean in this question but I forgive lies because we're all human. And compulsive liars aren't always bad people, usually they're just very paranoid and can't help it.

Recent research indicates that we all lie. It's simply too convenient and rewarding in the immediate for most people not to do so. "Lying" explains why we might choose to be as perfectly honest as we can. Best wishes to you.

It's also likely that those of high intelligence are more likely to abandon dishonesty and to do so earlier. Did the research that you quoted cover that issue?

I've a relatively useless degree in psych appropriately labeled as B.S. My notions come from many years of studying philosophy, history, and scientific research...including psychology. I became certified in Reality Therapy and strongly support (as does the research) cognitive psych approaches.

Once someone betrays you twice, I think you've given them plenty of chances to stop the deception. I ask a lot of different type questions and this is one I thought of.....I don't have a problem now.

Why lie? Unless in the case of a harmless lie to get out of trouble with parents, I don't see a point in lying at all... Don't lie to the woman who asks if the dress looks nice on her. If it doesn't, tell her she could look better in something Else..
Don't lie about sleeping with numerous men.. Don't sleep with them if you're gonna be embarrassed by it or feel the need to lie about it..
I refrain from lying as best I can and it has Yet to fail me..
I expect from people the same that I give, and since I am not lying to you, you should not be lying to me.. and if that's the type of person you are, I don't care to have you in my life.
