I only tolerate liars because if I didn't, there would be almost nobody in my life-and I don't have any friends as it is...lying on me or my loved ones is a different story.

    Depends.
Sometimes one finds oneself in a work or home situation where one works or has a relative that they deal with. Liking the person is another thing.

There is nothing worse then a liar. I do not tolerate it or associate with people who lie. I don't mean a little white lie we all do that but some people for some reason can not tell the truth.

Everybody lies. I can tolerate it, but I won't trust them. I also wouldn't want to be friends with someone like that because you never know if they're serious, real, fake, or if they're playing you.

I'm a forgiving person, but I couldn't deal with that.

I tolerate all kinds of people on a daily basis. I'm not afraid to call people out on their b.s. though. If they aren't worth saying anything to, I just let 'em lie.

How many of the 'NO, not at all!' tolerate politicians, actors, public figures, etc., who lie.
What about sports stars who lie about affairs, drugs, etc and are still popular?
I would like I am a 'NO, not at all! person too but I can't be that way all the time and doubt any of can.

I know children wil out of fear of being punished will lie to your face. Say for instance,... a broken vase that just happened to fall off the shelf and nobody accepts responsibility. Pointing fingers in every direction except themselves. I will ask that question , who did this until I get the truth and my youngster rose to the occasion without punishment but knew that I knew who really broke it. No reward but not happy. I think the admitting the offense is better. Nobody is perfect and frankly he was worried about the punishment and not being true to self. I think he realized that I wasn't as angry as he imagined. He said, "I did it" That was so much more important than anything else for me.

Liars and people who take advantage of others, can't stand it. Bad for me, sometimes it takes me awhile to realize someone is lying to me. At least, if it's a politician, I know it's a lie as soon as they open their collective mouths.

People sometimes lie for odd reasons--to avoid punishment, to get someone else in trouble, etc. Those kinds of liars I don't tolerate. But there are other reasons for lies, including some that are actually kind. Those I can tolerate very easily.

There is obviously a difference between lies that are designed to protect people, and lies that are designed to deceive people.

I can handle the former, as long as the situation warrants it, but not the latter.

I had a long online friendship with someone on the other side of the world, and after about 14 or so years of off and on communication we somehow came to the conclusion that we had a lot in common, and I was physically attracted to her based on the photos she had provided me with one way or another (a whole story in itself), so I made the first move and flew around the world to see her.

I was to meet her in a very specific place, and as I had seen a Youtube video of someone arriving at that particular airport I was able to locate it with ease. So from a distance I was able to see that she was not at all as she had previously described herself to be, nor was she the person in the photos. Far from it. Faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from it.

She did not see me, and I kept walking in the direction I had been moving (instead of making a right turn and heading towards her) and out of her view behind a wall. I remember standing there for what seemed an eternity wondering wtf to do. I'm over 9000 miles from home and not really known as a spontaneous traveler.

I eventually went on to meet her, and did spend some time trying to get over the initial deception but found that it was too much in the end as other things started to emerge. It was just embarrassing to have things turn out as they did, and even though I've been back home for quite a while now it's still something I avoid talking to people about. I also prefer not to talk to her.

Anyway, not sure why I am sharing all of this. I may have punched too many cones.

I intensely like being around someone who lies, however it usually takes me a long time to figure out I'm being lied to because I never expect it. I just assume people are being honest with me. Once I figure out someone is lying to me, I never fully trust them again.
