Quantcast

Do you think we should be able to micro chip our children?

I think that is a marvelous idea and long overdue. Why not a GPS chip too to show where they are. That would certainly stop kidnappers not to mention hours of police work. Why not every newborn?

I certainly believe that parents should have that option...as long as it involves private businesses as opposed to the government...much like Life Alert.

i mean, yea it'll be good to stop kidnapers, but what about when that child becomes a teen or an adult?

I think in one way it is a good idea as so many children do go missing but i am sure big brother would then use it in some way, so i am undecided.

Try and insert anything into me or my children and I will insert at least 6 things in you at an extremely high velocity.

I think any parent willing to do that is sick in the head!!! To be that hung up on the whereabouts of your child is freaking sick, and as they get up in age the use for one of those things becomes unecessary!!! It is called a cellphone and using proper judegement. If you are having that much problems with keeping your kids grounded then you are a bad parent!!!

Yes I have three kids but I have grandkids that are allowed no freedom at all because of the fear their parents have. When I was a kid we used to be gone until the street lights came on but now they have to have play dates all arranged and decided on. The idea was originally put forward by the father of Adam Walsh who was abducted from a dept store in Florida and his head was found days later. Mr. Walsh did not seem to think it was such a bizarre idea.

hi gocar. when i was a kid we did the same thing: wandered around in the hills far from any adult supervision, and we all survived.

nowdays, we are much more aware of child molesters and evil-doers in our midst: we see/read/hear about them on TV, the newspapers and magazines and radio and the internet.

i think it is natural for parents to worry about risks to their kids and to try to minimize them.

Even if I did I would not do such a thing!!! It is no better than putting a leash on your young ones like they are animals!!! And you are giving the government access to everything your child does and that to me is absolutely preposterous!!!

I can see the benefits you bring up and I can somewhat agree with them. But I really feel that the detriments would outweigh the benefits. And I don't trust our government enough to give that that type of control and knowledge over us.

Again, I could see some benefits but not enough to override the detriments. I just wouldn't feel comfortable doing that to my child or myself.

i admit i kinda like the idea ... i can chip my dogs and cats so i can find them if they get lost; why would i want it to be more difficult to find my children? OTOH, chipping people could lead to big-brother-ish-type nightmares ...

My dear, I have 8 grandkids. My yungest child was a constant pain in the rear and used to deliberately take off on me. I could not trust her to stay in the yard or around the house. In a store she would wander outside to the mall and I was frantic looking for her all the time. I can't count the number of times I had to call the police because she had been missing for two or three hours. My older two were never like that but it only takes one to make you rethink all the things that you believed made you a good parent. Now she is older with kids of her own and she wonders how I survived her.

ha ha ha ... grandchildren are the parents' revenge on their own kids! my 2 ran amok when they could. at times, we put a kid-leash on them so they couldn't get too far: she'd have one and i'd have the other.

i'm ready for grandkids, but my wife is not. neither of my own kids is ready to be a dad, so i'll be having to wait.
