That's a nice idea. Perhaps Alkatraz could be reopened.

Yes, we support them in prison -- which is why I think releasing them to the general prison population immediately is fine. They'll be killed very quickly, which then ends our tax 'burden.' Instant karma, as you say. :)

The problem is that taxpayers spend even more on them on average in protecting them. Alcatraz would work IF they could farm it. Another solution for prisoners who've committed heinous crimes would be to make their circumstances inexpensively austere (only books for entertainment for example) and give them ad lib access to hemlock. It's just a matter of legalizing suicide, which frankly can't ultimately be prevented anyway.

Turning loose those who are incarcerated for victimless crimes like smoking pot could save us billions. Our justice system is unjust to taxpayers and a boon to lawyers. We've been getting screwed for decades.

Especially now that lots of prisons are profit-making businesses. Screwed on both ends. Or all sides maybe.

Most the kids that are being abused and report it still are left in the care of their abusers. Most kids aren't taken away even if they're truly being abused.
