Do you think the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment?

Some people are so bad that they simply deserve to die.

Not always -- a person can be ended humanely and sometimes the most humane thing to do is to end someone.

per our wise president, NDAA allows for immediate execution of suspected terrorists. Including grandma giving food away from her garden.

What is cruel and unusual is the need to incarcerate these psychopaths and fund it for decades of appeal delays.

It depends on the situation,but i think having the death penalty is not a good thing to have.The reason is because theres been cases of false accusations or people who have had the death penalty and has been proven years later,that they had the wrong person.

Some crimes are atricious and the killer needs to pay. I.E. Child killers.

I believe that the same way that they murdered the person should be the way that they are executed, and if they are mass murders they get executed but the most cruel way that they murdered a victim

My view of the intent of "cruel and unusual punishment" within the constitution is that it has nothing to do with severity of punishiment but it meant to prevent using differential punishment for political purposes.

If society chooses to hand out 20 years sentences for jay walking, that is constitutionally just fine. The founders trusted us not to make such a stupid choice. What is not fine is handing out such a sentence for political purposes or as part of some personal vendata.

So it's about consistency of punishment not severity.

As to capital punishment be a good idea, I think it's an awful idea because our police and prosecutors lack the rigor to get it right.

Child murderers and molesters deserve it.

All murderers and rapists deserve it.

I agree with you that but it's legal to kill people in self-defense. I never have killed someone but I have shot people to defend myself, my family, and my friends.. I have a sister and me and my brothers always have been protective of her. I kicked her ex boyfriend's ass to protect her. I will kill someone if I have too. The definition of murder though is to unlawfully kill someone so if you kill someone in self-defense, it's technically isn't murder.

What I think is cruel and unusual punishment is when some thug robs a convenience store in the middle of the night and decides to kill some working stiff as he or she pleads for his life. It is added cruel and unusual punishment that the thug is granted years of appeals before he meets his Maker.

What happens when you execute someone and then later find them innocent? That's always my question.

Thats one reason i'm againts it because over the yrs our government has become more and more corrupt.That you don't know what to belive anymore!
