WTF? Are you kidding.. They should be expanded to teach what propelled Hitler into power as well.. We wouldn't be in such turmoil in our own country if people had a better understanding of history.

For what reason? It is a part of history and as a wise man said once "If you don't remember your history you are doomed to repeat it." Of course it should be studied and examined by all. What a horrible crime against humanity that was and every effort should be made to insure it never happens again.

If they stop teaching about the Holocaust, the people in denial of the Holocaust happening will get the satisfaction of their beliefs and it might happen again. NO!

I mean really?! That's like one of the BIGGEST tragedies in the history of the world! I mean yes, if he parent doesn't want their child to learn about it then they have the right to remove that child from the class, but I think it should be a mandatory part of the curriculum.

That would be unintelligent - but then again, if the school board around here is anything to judge by, I wouldn't be surprised if just that occurred.

No, of course not! It was a major turning point in history. The point of teaching history and learning about the past is so we can learn from out mistakes, and the Holocaust was a big mistake.

No it was an important event in history and the people that died should not be forgotten as well as what was done to them. If they didn't teach it no longer then we'd all eventually forget this over time. (which would take a while anyway) Still you get the point.

No, this should definitely be taught - there are many, many lessons from this travesty that need to be passed on to all generations so they will NOT be repeated. The holocaust was/is NOT a hoax.

Why should we deny it happened? The reason we teach this is so there isnt another Hitler. Yes, it was a very dark, disturbing moment in history, but it was also a very important time and led up to other important events in history.

Absulutely NOT! This is a part of History.... Should we start banning World War II or the Revolutionary War too?

When the clouds finally part and sky is "BLUE" again should we ban the history of Barack Obama and his socialist, marxist minion? NO!

You are correct about not banning history. Can you please tell me then, why does the GOP always rewrite history to make them look good? Why is it the the party of "no' never admits or learns from their mistakes. I think people should especially know about 4 of the last 5 republicon presidents and how they committed felonies, dealt with terrorists, allowed torture, outed a CIA agent, violated treaties, had the most activist Supreme Court in the history of our country, appoint "W" as president, illegally wiretapped it's citizens, and many other numerous things. Don't you agree?

    A forwarded e-mail:

It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect:

'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses -because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened'

This week, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offends' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. It is not removed as yet.. However, this is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the,6 million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians, and 1,900 Catholic priests

Who were 'murdered, raped, burned, starved, beat, experimented on and humiliated' while the German people looked the other way!

Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

Absolutely not and they should have a lot more taught about it. If the comic books (the history books) in school really told the truth of history and our real history we maybe here in america probably be much better people than we think we are. In school they should show the original series of World of War’s and I’m sure that children would then grow up with a much more peaceful mindset than most of us have now. We know now because of studies on children, which they’ve just done within the past 20 years that what happens to a child or what they are taught between the ages of 9 and 12 will make that child what they will be when they grow up. I myself saw that series when I was 10 and I grew up striving for peace and also realized too that no matter who you are or what authority you have (say president, king, etc..) that it does not mean that you are better than anyone else and that someone in high positions are capable of doing real evil. And it made me to always look behind the scene of all things to find out if things are truthful or not. So, well yes they should teach it and teach a lot more of it and teach about our real history too instead of teaching all those lies in our history books to make us look oh so good when we have an absolute appalling history

One of the problems with the rewriting of history in our textbooks is that they are based in Texas. That's where the rewriting is coming from, see the connection.

Not just no but HELL NO! We can not pick and choose what part of history we want to remember we need to remember it all, both good and bad. Hopefully we do not forget the bad or we are going to repeat it. This is the problem with all of this politically correct progressive thinking. Today especially we should study what happened in Germany during that time because it coukld very well happen in this country.

I started learning about it in elementary school, just not in detail. I think it should be started before middle school. Just the basic facts: "There was a man a long time ago in Germany named Hitler. He was a bad man who did bad things to people."

well hell, lets just not tell our kids about atrocities, or how socialism is bad, lets tell them the world is a really nice place and no one is going to ever hurt them. Lets sugar coat everything so when they grow up they can be victims for those who dont think that way....the education czar is a pervert who wants to make it legal for the gay lifestyle to be taught in school. So your litttle johnny or sallie can come home and tell you its ok for boys to kiss boys and live that perverted way.....better wake up people, your kids will be taught by a school teacher who is perverse if not a down right molester.....

I may not agree with the gay-thing in your answer, but the beginning is SO TRUE!

People today are so worried about scarring the children in the world that they want them to think the world is a Disney movie with singing birds and everything is green and happy. How can we prepare our kids for the real world when they think everyone will be nice and sweet and honest to them?
