Do you think that women who receive child support should be held accountable for what they do with the money?

Many women receive child support payments, yet many of them use the money on new cars, houses, or clothing. The money should be used for the children and whatever is not spent should be put away in savings. Do agree or disagree?

I cant see how there is a fair way to tally up total cost of raising a child. For one its not just about food and clothing, your also paying for water, electricity, a roof over their head, school necessities, school functions, extra curricular activities, medical, dental, eye, then as they age you also have possible car payments, car insurance premiums, proms, graduations, and a hundred other small things that kids need like female products, acne cleanser, makeup, deodorant, razors, ect.... There is no possible way to determine based on receipts how much money exactly went on just the child.

And I think they should have stricter laws for people who abuse Child Support.

I think they should have to produce receipts at the end of the year that total up to what they receive. If they don't add up, change the amount they're given.

Definately, my Aunt drained my Uncle for nearly every dollar he had in child support and my cousins never saw a dime of it. After paying all of his child support each month, he still had to buy them clothes and food and things they needed because their mother was spending it on her extravegent lifestyle. It makes me really sad too.

Absolutely! It's called CHILD SUPPORT for a reason. If they're recieving spousal support (alimony) then they can do whatever they want but when one parent is paying to support their kids then that's what the money should go to.

In our situation, it's the mom having to pay child-support..and she may work 3month's here take a few month's off..then work another couple month's there...we did not take her to court for about 10 years..Although she never bought her child, shoe's clothe's, really nothing in all that time, we thought it was important that she remained in the child's life as much as possiable.. the mom lived 2 hour's away, she saw her maybe 6 times a year..because my husband said if we take her to court, she'll never come and see her child....then 5 years ago in may she moved 8 hours away from her then 10 almost 11 year old... my husband finally filed the paper's, took attorney general a year and a half to get us a court date..when he called to check on the statis of the case, the lady said, why are you taking the mother of your child to court...as if my child did not deserve to have the same rights as others do in this situation...and of course after she moved to dallas she hasn't called written or seen her daughter....it's so sad...but my point is even when you don't make them pay- they still come in and out of the child's life at their convience..and when you make some people step up to the plate and take resposablility they fall short- not on money but their time with the kid's..but we hav...

If a person is the child's primary caregiver and their a "good" parent, their entire income is devoted to taking care of their household child included. The average child support check doesn't compare to the child's expenses. Food, shelter, childcare, clothes, shoes, medicines, doctor's visits, camps, extracurricular activities, etc. I personally don't receive child support because my ex-husband doesn't work but I've seen checks and it's insulting to the hard-working single mother. My monthly childcare expenses alone are almost $1,500.

I'm more interested in seeing dead beat parents step up and raise their children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... you had fun making them, have fun raising them.

well. let's see..a new house....yes, i think the kids deserve that.....new car? yes! i think the kids also deserve that.....usually this kind of question is asked from someone who has to pay child support ...

No idea how it could be done, but it should be. Maybe instead of getting money/stamps, they should get a free delivery of fresh fruit and veg and other healthy food. Then they can feed their kids properly instead of just at Mcdonalds.

But I doubt that will ever change. I also believe that child support should be a right off for the person at the end of the year and claimed income for the person who receives it. The reason I say person I have known on occasion where the woman payed support to the guy.

There's always a way to beat the system though. My cousin would sell her food stamps for cash so she could buy drugs with it. I really don't know how you could keep track of something like that.
