Always try not to show too much, it's just virtual, you never know who's interested.. I mean, you never know what kind of person is interested in you on the internet. You never know until something bad happens to you, so just be careful (: just a lil bit more than in your real life :)
You do have to be cautious of what you do on social sites. You need to be particularly careful of what personal information you give out. That really worries me with young people -- they often give way too much personal information. There was a 16 year old girl in Arkansas that was murdered recently. They found her body in a 55 gallon barrel which was buried on a farm - the property belonged to the brother of the man who killed her. It was confirmed that she met the man (who was I think 34 or 36 years old) on a social website. He was a sex offender - and he was passing himself off to her as a 17 year old boy. She left her grandmother's home to go for a walk - apparently to meet up with the "17 year old boy" - and was never seen alive again. Adults and young people can be drawn in to scams on social websites easily if they aren't careful.
no way ... rather its best to express one self and exhibit perception which one does not find to tell or ask any one . Many times we get corrected by reading opinions of others . Social sites have also minimized the loneliness as computer has become the fast friend the community on social site is their family who care and respond to resolve solutions . Even Birth day celebration is nice though its on net ?
Not anymore dangerous than going out in public, in fact, social networks are probably safer (since you are only just chatting with people online) compared to all the crime and "incidents" now days you hear about on the news.
No. I do know of some people who don't use any privacy protections and then discuss details of their lives. These people should not be surprised if they have a problem.
Facebook keeps dumbing it down for people who don't know how to use privacy protections, which is pretty annoying.
I do not think they are anymore dangerous then walking down the street, signing on to the internet or any other thing we do on daily basis. I think that young people have a greater chance of being harmed on a social network by people posing as something they are not.
For example I am showing a picture of an old guy and show my age as 72. When in fact I could be a 21 year old stud looking to meet older women. You never know.
