Do you think prostitution is a good career?

It's a serious question. Not talking about young girls or teens forced
into the trade by pimps, but talking about adult women. Over the years,
stories have come out about how some women were call girls or sold their
bodies for awhile to make money for college and now are professionals
in the world. Others, seem to stay when if they really wanted to escape,
they would, yet they don't. Despite what you think, it does pay well.
Sure, in most cases the pimp gets most of the money but the woman does
keep some of it.
college professionals world stay escape pay cases pimp money woman

Most probably think that none of these women actually like their job. Is
this job that different? if you hate your job, you hate it. This job
just happens to involve sex, which in this society has a large amount of
taboo. It is possible that some women simply do like it for the money
and they love sex, so even if they have the opportunity to escape, they
don't. I am sure they are in the minority, but this could be true in
third world countries where there are few jobs they are able to do. Of
course, this line of thought would also apply to male prostitutes.
As we know, in some societies it is legal and not a big deal for a
person to sell their body for money. They think little of it, there is
no love, no affection, no connection to the activity to the other person
and they probably do look forward to when it does mean something. They
do their job, get paid. It is all very matter-of-fact. It seems that in
societies like ours, where we make it a crime, the situation is made
worse because of we impose our morals on those who cannot find another
way to make the income that sex provides to them. Maybe, it was their
last ditch effort to survive, there WAS no other choice.
crime situation impose morals income sex ditch effort survive choice

It is akin to a person who earns $50 hr., loses his job, after
getting unemployment for two years, then, consumes his savings to
survive-just hoping a job will come, yet doesn't, and finally, as a last
resort does prostitution to make money. I am sure prostitutes have some
interesting stories of why they do what they do.

it is a dangerous illegal practice
    with no insurance, no safety
    no guarantees of being paid
    serious potential of being abused
    robbed, extorted or killed

Personally i do not see any attraction
    to such work.

Way too dangerous, and the society doesn't respect that kind of work. Not the prostitute at the street at least. Porn and professional companies are accepted just fine. The hypocrisy in this is kinda stupid.

I make it a policy not to tell people what they should do. But I do enjoy the stories I hear coming out of Amsterdam where prostitution is legal and therefore regulated and protected.

There are pros and cons to this job. The major down side is that it is illegal and a prostitute could be seriously harmed. I personally believe if this was legal and was recognized as a legitimate career it would be far less dangerous. So if prostitution was legal, I wouldn't say it was good OR bad, just a personal career choice.

If it's the only type of job you can find to support yourself without being on welfare then by all means do it. If you're being a prostitute because you can't pay your phone bill then you obviously don't need a phone that badly. Plus it wouldn't be my body so the woman should do whatever she wants to with her body.

Protitution is not as glamorous as it is portrayed, mostly it's seedy. Both sexes don't choose their partners for their looks, it's just about money.

I think it is mostly a bad career because most of the world condemns the woman who does it; because of the abuse they get from clients, pimps and others; because of its relatively short duration (only as long as she is physically desirable). But I also know that some who have a strong sense of self and love sex can do this for a time and be just fine. I met a few women , now regular moms, who had been call girls during college. Their husbands knew and everything seemed OK with them.

I am still convinced that in most cases which seem not "forced", it is a pis-aller for pretty women with too little or no income and insufficient qualification - some are perhaps "shipwrecked" would-bes, drug addicts or alcoholics, but most have to sustain a child or several, a family, or have debts, and there are many who sell their body for food.

Remember, there has always been a high demand in this "sector", throughout history!

If you want to feel like scum.I never believe it's the last resort.I would rather scrub floors
and keep my dignity.I'm sure they have a lot of stories to tell.Of filthy men who have them perform sex acts.Dirty ugly men who stink.Men who beat prostitutes, maybe they even had a prostitute friend who was murdered.I'd rather keep my pride and dignity. It's not a
    glamorous life.

it is if your just on the street selling yourself. but doing it legally in a brothel isn't bad. because women put themselves into that so i guess its no harm.

It seem like a difficult job. Have to act satisfied by some old man on top of you seems like a hard job. Plus you have to maintain a sexy body and be really good at sex. Not to mention there is no guarantees of even getting paid for and not being hurt or killed

It is exploiting women of all ages, and just shows how little the government is doing for people with very little money.

For a woman to resort to this way of collecting money must degrade them so badly, that even if they do "earn" enough money to turn their life around, their confidence and physical appearance may be so trashed by perverted men that they simply cannot apply for a job.

Not only this, but so many prostitutes get killed whilst out on "jobs". It is an ultimately dangerous job that could result in the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives, and not helping the economy in any way possible.

It's good in the ways you mentioned but it's unhealthy and unhygienic as well. I'd honestly just strip. Still good money and I don't have to be touched by strangers.

Absolutely, just not a long term one. The recurring problem is that most of the younger women who become prostitutes do it with the intent to save money for something. They end up dumping it all due to lack of money management skills.
