Do you think people who use caps lock are annoying?

DON'T FORGET THAT VISUAL IMPAIRMENT REQUIRES, MANY TIMES, THE USE OF CAPS LOCK. AND SINCE THE SOCIETY IS GROWING OLDER, IT WOULD BE BETTER TO RETHINK THE "OLD RULES". (AND PLEASE, DON'T TRY TO TEACH US HOW TO USE THE ACCESSIBILITY TOOLS. WE ALREADY KNOW IT). SINCE TECH MOVES SO FAST, WHY SHOULD WE STILL PAY SO MUCH ATTENTION ON THIS OLD STUFF? IT MATTERS MOST WHAT WE SAY, NOT HOW WE SAY.

It just seems lazy to me, like they can't be bothered with doing things correctly.

Unless their keyboard is broken, I find it incredibly annoying.
*Edit* To be clear, I mainly just find it hard on the eyes.

It's harder for me to read.

I come away with the feeling the person is shouting all the time.
I also find it kind of glarey and unpleasant. I usually don't read post longer that four lines, max.

technically, I find it annoying that they use caps. Maybe they are really nice people who just don't realize they are being annoying. I usually skip reading anything in caps, and I didn't read your babble below either, sorry.

It's not even on my list. Bullys are annoying me today and turning me into a psycho bitch from hell, LOL.

More often than not, YES.

I'll use it to stress any points I'm trying to make, or put heavy inclination on words, much like the "YES" in the first sentence, but in general, unless I'm using it in a mocking way or implying humor/sarcasm, I don't use it.

It's pretty annoying having to switch from reading normal posts to all caps.

It is also annoying when someone posts with the text centered instead of left justified.

Centered text makes me read it like a poem :p

No, I do not if it is a visual thing that is necessary for a person to see. I think most can tell if caps are used for reasons to simply get a point across or if it is truly needed.

It starts to hurt my eyes after a while and the person just makes themself look stupid. Just because you type LIKE THIS doesn't make your answer any more effective.

Some people have vision problems so I excuse them.
People with healthy eyes who use it are quite annoying.

Just so you are aware, some people with "low vision" use caps lock because it is much easier for them to see. If you ask someone using caps lock why they are doing that, and they do have "low vision", most of then will tell you why.

They can always zoom in or change their screen resolution, that way éverything is bigger and not just the posts they themselves make.

I understand that, but not everyone is that tech savvy.
I am just telling you that many people with low vision used caps lock.

And I still don't see how that is useful if only the ones who claim to find it easier to read post that way, so they can only read what théy type and not what other people have to say.

I can not really answer that, as my vision is normal, and I do not have "low vision". All that I know is, that is what they do, and they say it is helpful, and when I respond to a reply in all caps, I use all caps, unless I know the person was "yelling".

YES I DO IT MAKES ME ANGRY BECAUSE THEY ARE TRYING TO ADD MORE URGENCY (Is that a word? I'm not sure..lol) TO THEIR COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS AND IT MAKES EVERYTHING SOUND LIKE THE WORLD WILL EXPLODE IF YOU DON'T ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... THEN THEY ADD LIKE 100 EXCLAMATION MARKS TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE IF IT WAS IN REAL LIFE IT WOULD BE REALLY REALLY LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. AND ALSO THEY NEVER USE PUNCTUATION....which in my opinion is the worst part. lol...I think using all caps lock Makes the person look like they are taking the Internet WAY too seriously (whoops there I go again) If that makes any sense.

I only you them WHEN I WANT TO MAKE A POINT...or to make the words LOUDER. Other wise the cap lock is just a pain on my eyes.

i use caps lock sometimes and its mostly because its like easier to read

Then how do you read the other posts. Obviously you are more interested in what you are writing than in what is being written by others.


Why not adjust your screen to make the image bigger. Capital are used to indicate shouting.

There are lots of reasons why someone would type in all caps, it's not any more annoying than someone who doesn't use caps when appropriate (like at the beginning of a sentence, or when typing the word "i")... or not using punctuation, or misspelling words... or using ... too much LOL, or using LOL or smilies all the time :) or even using brackets a lot (or typing alot instead of a lot), or how about run-on-sentences???

People have different ways of expressing themselves, who am I to say it's wrong if someone isn't typing the same way I do...?

I also believe that people mirror who they are on line (and in real life), so if you are typically a happy go lucky type person, they you might not see anger or yelling in how someone types, if you tend to be a persnickety type person, then you might see anger in the way someone types.

I use them for emphasis simply because I don't know if the site accepts code for bold and italics. But I try not to use them TOO much.

I dont think the people are annoying per se....There are a couple of people on here that I know of who use all caps b/c they are visually impaired. I will say that I don't like to read a paragraph in all caps b/c it's difficult for me to read it that way, but for those who must type it that way, reading other people's postings that are typed in lower case is difficult for them, too. Patience and understanding goes a long way...

You can zoom in the screen. OMG! YOU JUST LEARNED A NEW THING!

I have a nifty little option on my laptop that allows me to do that easily, but not everyone does nor does everyone know how to zoom in the screen. I don't even see an option for that on the screen~anywhere. Plz post a simple explanation on how to do that for the visually impaired who don't know how to and maybe that will reduce the amount of people on here that type in all caps all the time. :o)

They shouldn't use caps lock unless they're yelling something. That's the only time you use all caps.

Not true. As the poster after you mentioned for the visually impaired it can be a necessity.
