Do you think people should have to pass a test to be able to become parents?

They ABSOLUTELY should have to! The amount of unfit parents out there is disgusting. People who want children so badly sometimes cannot have them when they're perfectly fit and then there's all the MORE parents out there who couldn't care less about their children and parenthood.

There are some parents who shouldn't even own a cat or dog because they are so inept/stupid/thoughtless. However, it is the liberal/progressive mindset which assumes none of us are capable of doing anything right and I wouldn't want to grant the government arbitrary power to ruin families needlessly.

Now, if the question was to ask, "Should bad parents be waterboarded?" I think I could go for that.

If people actually took tests to see if they could be a good parent, then maybe I could've had a better childhood.

People could be tested on whether or not they have abusive qualities. Whether it be drug, physical, sexual, mental and so on. That probably doesn't make sense, but I'm half asleep so...

Anyways, I know the test wouldn't be foolproof, but it could still save a few kids from having to endure years of abuse y'know?

*shrugs* it's just what I think. I'd rather would-be parents go through a test, instead of would-be children being forced through an abusive situation.

What if the shrink giving the test has an agenda or is a complete incompetant, and predicts wrong? That wouldn't be right either!
  • Alex shadow76 2012/08/14 00:20:16

That's why I said that it wouldn't be foolproof. Ideas like that rarely, if ever, are. But there would be more than one shrink y'know? Occasionally, some cases may slip through, but the amount would be decreased.
  • shadow76 Alex 2012/08/14 00:24:10

How could you possibly know that? No one can predict what will happen, or what people will do.
  • Alex shadow76 2012/08/14 00:30:25
    Alex
I know that. But not every shrink would have an agenda. Nor would every shrink be incompetent. There would be good, honest ones as well. As is with every profession. And, if the would-be parents arent happy with their results, they would probably be allowed to seek a second opinion from a different psychologist y'know? If there would be a difference of opinion, the couple could see a third psychologist who would make the final decision.

That is just plain silly! Force them to pay for all these shrinks? They are not cheap! the more you talk the nuttier you sound!
  • Alex shadow76 2012/08/14 00:45:19
    Alex
Since the test would be required, I should assume that it'd be free or at least cheap.
