Do you think next year we will have a record breaking month like we did this year?

I know weather patterns can be awfully unpredictable, but with El Nino on it's way and the tropics heating up(which is right on time), do we have a chance to break heat records again next year?

Yes. The El Niño - La Niña Southern Oscillation is one of the few nearly consistent weather patterns. Get ready for the hottest summer on record, historical or geological (unless you live on a shield.)

I think it will get worse. We might have a mild year followed by two hot years, then three and then always. I think we're at the tipping point now. It may already be too late to do what we need to do to stop it. We don't have the will to do it.

Our heat (N. Illinois) broke last week, and it looks like it'll stay broken. It's warm today, but the high for the next few days is supposed to be about what the lows were some nights in July. I sure don't want to turn my furnace on yet!
