Er, I suppose if there is a heaven, Moses is in it.

I don't know but I would eventually hope so. That would be upon judgement day which has not happened yet. But I could be wrong I am not religious I just believe in God.

The question is this: did Moses even exist at all? We have no historical proof he existed outside of the Bible.

I would say that the Bible is historical!

Some of the history of the Bible might be true. Places and people like Herod might have existed. However, the spiritual implications of the stories might not have happened at all. There might have been a man that Moses was based upon. However, over thousands of years, legend and myth often inflates a true story to make it even more extraordinary than it actually was. Who knows though? Sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction.

Too bad we are too stupid to understand! God and the history of the Bible are so far over our understanding! That is why we have FAITH- which can only be given by God!

Faith that Samson killed one thousand men with only a donkey's jawbone? Faith that Noah's flood actually happened when it's scientifically impossible? Faith that a bunch of dead saints got up out of their graves and walked into town after Jesus died on the cross (see the Gospel according to Matthew)? I could go on and on. I read the whole Bible cover-to-cover, and all I can say is this: if you can believe the Bible is true, you can believe any work of fiction is true. Why do folks say the Bible's supernatural claims are true without calling it ancient fiction or folklore? Has anyone ever considered that the Bible may just be stories, legends and folklore? Demons don't possess people today, so I guess the demons retired in the first century A.D. Sorry. I'm just being a skeptic today. You never know. Tomorrow might be different. :)

Didn't he train and send his army to plunder and pillage Jericho, to rob the Canaanites of their lands? I have my doubts about him going to heaven.

I rather fancied Philo-Publius' remonstration concerning the great warrior Archangel Michael who loved little of this earth but put his foot upon the remains of Moses and looked Satan the Fallen angel of Light over and contended..."Come get him..."

I presume so: If Archangel Michael would fight for his body, surely his soul is worth far more to God:

"Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee." -Jude 1:9

I doubt it. After all there is no promise of heaven in his religion. The reason for doing as you are told by his god had nothing to do with any rewards that are something that was invented by the Christian church later on. Probably to boost converts that and the gnashing of many teeth in an equally fictitious hell were a great incentive to the dull and fearful. In the mean time the money changers live in comfort .

During the three days from Christ's death until his resurrection, Christ descended into Hell, where he brought out all the faithful who had not had the chance to hear his teachings and were not have a choice whether to believe or not. So pre-Christianity, many were taken up into heaven during that three-day period.

Yes. In the Apostles Creed it says: "and He descendeth into hell. On the third day, he rose again from the dead ...
One of the things He did during the three days was bring any soul who died before the Resurrection, not having a choice to accept Christ as the Saviour, into heaven. His spirit did this. His spirit returned to his body, the Resurrection. Although we have the choice now, God will get as many people to heaven as He can unless He is totally rejected. If someone dies who has not been told and given a chance to choose, they will go to heaven. God doesn't send us to hell. We send ourselves.

You have a very simplistic idea of justice. For that matter a very strange idea of forgiveness. This idea of heaven and hell seems like such a ridiculous concept. where a person that is able to apply simple blind faith receives an ultimate reward of a nature that no one can understand but if he is brought up to be doubtful and to think he is destined for eternal suffering. That is not only unjust it is positively evil. I can understand that the people that persecuted the Jews ,gypsies and others really were not that far of the mark at least with the Jews as they are not Christians and were destined for worse anyway but if Hitler accepts Christ at the last moment all is forgiven. Come on that is insane. Who made this stuff up?
  • Barbara Robbb 2012/09/25 19:49:14
    Barbara
I didn't mention any reference to Hitler. Hitler had a choice; it's clear he made very dangerous, egregious choices, that millions had to pay for.
We're expected to be doubtful and to think. That's where the choice comes. There are many things I have questions about. As far as heaven and hell, I do not think we have a truly clear description or idea of either, but there are times when Occam's razor applies, though.
I'm not pushing what I believe on you and I respect your right to disagree with me.

I did not mean to bring him up specifically I just meant that any mass murdering statesman can do as he likes and then at the end ask for forgiveness. a person that sincerely believes in Christ can commit all the evil he likes because he is forgiven. Great concept.

    Hitler was a mad man!
  • Robbb Marie 2012/09/26 09:03:00
    Robbb
He was no more mad then any number of other politicians that did not get away with it. The victors write the history. Hitler was a mad man because he killed 6 milion jews nevermind what else happened. as I said though all he had to do was repent. who knows he may have just before he shot himself and then there he is in heaven. Terific idea.
  • Barbara Robbb 2012/09/25 20:43:42
    Barbara
If a person sincerely believes in Christ, they should not be commiting evil. God forgives, but if someone repents, but then keeps on doing evil, he is not forgiven. So the concept you are talking about is foreign to me, but then mine is probably foreign to you. That's okay.
Someone cannot count on doing anything they want and then repenting right before they die because we never know when we might die. That's what I call trying to cover your a$$.
  • Robbb Barbara 2012/09/26 09:08:41

The truth is I promise I will never try to cover my arse because the whole idea of such a totally unjust and inequitable system beggars belief. There are a whole lot of things that make a person what they are and some middle class well fed pious individual that thinks hardship and injustice comes in the form of the train being late is hardly in a position to even begin to appreciate what may be involved.

The Catholic Church is interested in the Catholic church. They are the only religious organisation to be a part of the UN and they did that by collaborating with Mussolini, one of Hitler’s mates, these people are hardly to ones to look up to for guidance.
