is just a hat, yeah they wear a cap cuz they in a gang thats just stupid.
i went to a school in NC where 75% of the students where in gangs and belive me they didnt had to wear a hat so u could know, hats didnt mean nuttin. i knew alot of kids that where high and none wore a hat to cover their eyes.
hmm i went to a bad highschool and hats wasnt the problem! =)

ok so since its so "disrespectful" because of the color or symbol heres a perfect example of a stupid excuse........i was wearing an all black beanie no symbol or anything.....a teacher took it off of my head i asked 'WHAT GIVES?" she said its offensive .....now do you see why i call this part of the dress code an excuse for a stupid rule

Why are schools these days double standard we aren't allowed to wear hats but other kids wear their religious head dress to school...?
Hows that fair I think that anyone should be able to wear a hat to school unless it is disrespectful or effects someone from seeing what is going on, on the board. We should be allowed to wear them, take them off during the national anthem, then put them on after it is over. If we are not allowed to wear them because the teacher may think we are hiding something we can take them off and prove them wrong.
I am hoping to talk to my school and convince them that there is nothing wrong with hats in school but i need more points for my argument if anyone has any good points please reply!

They do anyway. In spite of the rules. The principal & asst principal & teachers tell them to take it off & pull up their pants all day long. Its annoying.

I agree %150 I'm the same way my hat says MARINES on it because when I graduate in may I'm goin straight to boot camp for the united states marine corps. Now tell me how in the Hell is my hat offensive to the school board if I'm old enough to fight for ur freedom then why do I have to continue removing my hat in a public school???

its some kids way of showing their individualitiy, or if someone was an accident that involed a scar that they really dont want people to see that can be coverd by a hat then why not? it might give them a cofidence boost they need.

Kids aren't smart enough to hide cheat sheets in their hats and it would be noticable if they did because the teacher would see them take off their hat and look at it every 10 seconds.

Removing a hat is a sign of respect; especially when a flag passes by,when someone is saying the pledge, you are in a bulding, funeral, or church service. Any formal event. A hat is usually on to protect your eyes and head from the sun, anyway. Historically, men have been killed for not removing their hats.

maybe... but we are in school. nobody should be killed for wearing their hat. plus.... your not allowed to bring guns, knives, or anything harmful to school anyways! people in school should be asked to take their hats off during the pledge, but after that is over we should be able to put our hats back on!

ok i understand when saying the pledge ...but in a building really doesn't have a reason .... women and sometimes many men wear hats at funerals and to church services.........some hats are just for style and really have no meaning and this is the 21st century......no ones gonna kill you if you don't take off a hat

I was planning on asking the question "WHY isn't it socially acceptable to wear hats indoors"... I never did understand.

Kids should be allowed to wear hats in school for many reasons. One of which is that some people wear hats for religious reasons. For instance, it is a traditional Jewish custom for men and boys (and in more egalitarian Jewish communities - women as well) to wear a covering on their heads at all times to show respect for G-d (the hat symbolizes that there is someone above us). Really, why has our culture decided that wearing a hat indoors is disrespectful? Maybe we should examine the origins of this custom and why it came about instead of blindly following what has been told to us from birth.

Schools don't discriminate when it's religious; they really aren't aloud to do that, but you can't tell me a sports organization hat has anything to do with RELIGION. Promise. Go into any public school, and you will see people wearing them for religious reasons.
