My son has to really mess up to get a spanking, but when he does it's a couple of light taps on the diapered butt or his hand, depending on what he's done.

Put the fear of god in ur child's eyes! I used to get the wooden spoon and the belt right off my dads hip, 25 no criminal charges yet.....must have worked!

I don't think it's wrong merely stupid my family doesn't spank and the kids are well behaved the reason is when we punish em it's not just a couple seconds of pain they ha to stand in a corner for an hour go without tv for a day no access to toys, games or friends and trust me a day of pure boredom is a much worse punishment

We were brought up knowing if we misbehaved, we would get a spanking. We learned really quickly not to misbehave and pitch fits. A lot of children today are undiciplined little terrors and hold their parents hostage every chance they get. They become adults with no idea of how to have consideration of others.

If it doesn't make them cry it doesn't do any good. If a parent doesn't spank their own child they cannot really love them. A loving parent cares about raising their child.

Hitting your children teaches them that hitting is OK in certain circumstances. They are not developed enough to know the difference and will act out this type of punishment against other children when they get their feelings hurt or feel threatened. I have two boys never once have I hit them or even threatened to do so. I just look them straight in the eye and raise my voice then they know they've done wrong a little time out never hurts either

Sometimes you just have to get their attention, there is NOTHING wrong with a swat on the butt or hand. Different children respond to different forms of discipline, some will respond to verbal reprimands, others need the swat to get their attention, it's up to the parent to decipher which child needs which form of discipline.
