Do you think it's weird if a woman doesn't want children?

To each their own. If a woman does not want kids that is up to her. There is nothing wrong with it.

I don't want them. I find it odd that anyone would.

Yeah, because women are totally expected to grow up and be nothing but an incubator for the next generation. Oh, and don't forget to clean those houses and make those sandwiches. And stay out of your man's way while you're at it.

Well I don't want them and I don't consider myself odd. There's enough kids in the world anyway and I can feel happy without being surrounding by crying toddlers. If you want children, good for you, if you feel you need children to make you complete, then you're not happy with yourself and need to work on that before you can even consider being happy with kids. I might adopt one day, after I've made a stable career where I can afford help, but I don't know.

Nah, I have friends who hate children and would be terrible mothers and others who just don't want them. It's nothing unusual.

Having a child is alot of headaches, pains, money and everything else.
If a woman dosen't want children, thats her problem, not mine!

It's not weird at all, in my opinion. I have also met quite a few men in my time who didn't want to start a family-that's their choice in both cases. Personally, however, I believe that a family makes a closer 'unit' if there is at least a couple of kids in it-and of course, a dog is an absolute essential!!

That's her choice. Not everyone is cut out to be a parent.

People are different, and not everyone wants the same thing. I have never had the slightest desire to get pregnant. I find it a pretty gross way to bring people into the world. I like kids (especially with a bit of horseradish and some tomato) but I have never wanted to reproduce.

yes a little odd, but women should be allowed to make that choice and they will choose what is right for them....

Its just whether you want that in your life, I know that I want a child when I am older. Just depends on how you want your life to play out.

Maybe they r right and maybe they are wrong! Point is some women just aren't maternal:) for example cameron diaz says she never wants kids and is perfectly happy.

I have 3 children 34,33,29,none seem to want children thats their business.You do whats best for you....

There are a lot of women with children they should not have. So if a person is honest and says it is not for them, I respect it.

I don't think it is the least bit strange.

I never desired to have a child either, seems that fate or God or whatever you choose to call it had other plans for me though as I have a son now.

But No it's not strange to me at all. some people just are not into children that much.

And now that I do have a child everyone is like "when are you having another" and I'm like I don't want another lol. I love my son and all but I'd rather not do it again. (especially the infant faze)

my older sis doesnt want kids. she jus nvr has. personally i do want children, always have but chances are i can't have any thanks to medical reasons but you always want what you cant have. if you dont want kids then you jus dont, might change might not.

No, I don't think it's weird. Those people who tell you that "you'll change your mind" are being patronizing at the least. I heard that when I was in my 20s a lot, then in my 30s it was "Aren't you ever going to have kids" schtick. I'm in my mid 40s now, and I have never changed my mind, and I don't regret it one little bit.

You can be polite and try to change the subject with these people or be direct, and tell them to mind their own business.

Well said. There are a lot of women out there who are mom's and probably should not be. It is honest to say that is just not for you.

I say that as a fact, not as anything derogatory. I imagine, and at least hope, that it is becoming less "odd". I would much rather one who knows they don't want kids to not have any, as opposed to those like my mother, who never wanted to marry, much less have children.

You know you better than anyone. Don't accept pressure from anyone. If you grow to regret it, they are your regrets and no one else's. Only you know your reasons for feeling like this, and it is your life to live as you choose.

The nice thing about todays world, is useful life expectancies are far longer than they used to be. As young as you are, you still have 20 or 30 years before you need to decide for certain whether you want kids or not. I would suggest however, that if you decide to enter into any long term relationship, perhaps even one that is life lasting, this is an issue that needs to be discussed with your partner. Know also that for now, while they themselves are also young, they me think exactly as you do. They may also start changing their mind as the two of you approach the point of no return, and it can tear the relationship apart. I'm not saying in such a case to have kids even if you don't want to, only that it can tear two people apart.
