Do You Think It’s Crazy to Throw Your Dog a Big Birthday Party?

Catch My Party 2012/08/20 16:00:00
No, it’s not crazy. A dog is a true member of the family. Why not celebrate his or her milestones?
Yes, your dog doesn’t know the difference. It’s a total waste of time and money.

I’ve never thrown my dog a birthday party, but I’ve been to some very fun dog parties. I think any excuse to throw a party is a good excuse, and if your dog gets some extra treats out of it, I say everybody wins. Just don’t make your dog wear that silly party hat for the whole party! :) Check out some adorable dog parties people have thrown.

I don't know the difference nor do I care to when it's my birthday. Oh wow, I just lived another year, that's great... Yet I get presents and cake.

    Why can't my dog?

Dogs don't know what parties are. All they know is that they're getting some food and some toys for some reason. I can't see throwing a party for a dog. Maybe it's because I could never AFFORD to, not with the medication I have to have and other bills that keep piling up. I don't see the need for a big birthday party for a dog.

:) Thank you. Most of my pets were strays, I figure that they had enough unhappy days before I found them, why not make the rest as happy as I possibly could. It's entirely selfish of me actually, I gain more than they ever could.

I've had a birthday party for my cat. He's a big baby. He's orange and weighs 15 pounds so he looks like Garfield's twin. And he knows what presents are now. Every Christmas or his birthday he goes to wherever the presents are and meows until he gets his. He even rips them open with his claws. Animals can be a lot more like people than you'd think.

Our dogs know when it's a celebration and they have a great time seeing their other siblings that have gone to other peoples homes. Hey it's a party whats the harm. Great food and great time with friends.

Go for it. The dog will love the attention. The purpose of a party is to have fun. Better a dog's birthday than a Hurricane.

I am closer to my dogs than I am to any member of my family so I do not see anything wrong with it.
My dogs expect a certain treat at certain times of the day, so it makes sense to surprise them once a year.

People need to understand the difference between pets/animals and humans. Giving your dog a birthday party reinforces the similarities and may confuse the owner more than the dog.

Plus, you would have to give 7 parties each year to account for dog years, and that would get ridiculous! ;)

Much of the crap people try and feed their dog's at these "parties" are bad for the dogs anyway.
