It's about that time of year, when high school graduates prepare for the next phase in their lives: College. For many students, it's an uncertain and unpredictable stage. They're starting over in a big way, but know it will be more uplifting and exciting than the transition into high school. College is that ephemeral life-limbo where Facebook started, where "Animal House" took place, and where you (supposedly) decide what to do for the rest of your life.

Whether you're going into college, went to college "back in the day," or are hoping to go at some point in the future, take our 6-question Quick Poll when you get the chance and let us know what your experience was like, or how you expect it to play out.

I've learnt that they weren't exactly who I thought they were and that they weren't right on some of the things that they taught me. College has enabled to think more independently and to quit caring so much what they think of me.

When kids are living at home their parents are with them all the time and help them out with things. But when they are in college and need that help the parents aren't there to give it to them. It makes them miss home and miss their parents

It just accelerates whatever path the relationship was already on. If the relationship was drawing apart, college will just make that happen faster, and vice versa.

No, although my parents separated right before I went to college. In my case the family dynamic changed dramatically, but if they had been together there wouldn't have been very many changes. During college I stayed at home for 3 out of 4 years, and my sister goes to a school 45 minutes from my house.

It's not that it "drives" us apart, it's that we get to see things from different perspectives. This leads to growth and change, else why bother with college?

My mother passed away before I finished college, but it brought my dad and I closer together. I never asked for help, which surprised him. I graduated Magna Cum Laude, which also surprised him (I was not a good student before college). I accepted the challenge and suceeded, which not only made him proud, but he respects what I say now. I can back up my opinions with facts.

I am not IN college, but am in a management position at a college....

It all depends on the familial circumstances... everyone's different...

It varies. It doesn't often bring them together seeing as most of the time, they aren't physically together. But it is good to loosen the ties with your parents/family, so that you not only become an adult to yourself, but an adult in their eyes- more of a friend than a daughter/son.
