Do you think Christianity will eventually go the way of the other ancient religions?

Will it finally...possibly thousands and thousands of years from now...be as the Norse and Greek myths and the other ancient beliefs that we now know were myths but that people actually once believed and based their lives and deaths on?

Christianity was documented by eye-witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus

The witnesses told us so - just like the rest of history that you believe. Were you on the moon when men reportedly walked there?

No...but we SAW it on tv and we SAW the men go there and come back and they actually brought tangible evidence back with them......hmmmmm

I have seen many MOVIES and documentaries. I have no idea what was real or not since I wasn't there. You did not witness it firsthand - you saw it through a medium shown to you. You also have no idea as to whether whatever was "brought' back was really from the moon. You are taking someone else's word for it.

Uh, no, Christianity is described in the Talmud, before 70 CE. Gamaliel actually parodied the book of Matthew. Gamaliel as a matter of fact was a Jewish rabbi, mentioned in the book of Acts. He was a contemporary to the apostles. But he was not a Christian by any stretch. In his parody of the book of Matthew, he never once derided the claim of the resurrection. What he ridiculed was the teachings in the book of Matthew. His rejection of Matthew was based on his personal religious philosophy, nothing as logical and factual as whether the resurrection happened or not.

Once again, all these men would have had to do what drag out the stinking corpse.

Why should He do that? He has left you an ample written record, by eyewitnesses to His claims of Deity, and His resurrection. He doesn't need to come back and empty out hospitals for you. After you, do you suggest he do it again for the next nonbeliever? and then again? and then again?

    Examine the documents.

and BTW...why not just forgive us all...especially for Adam's "sin" (which we didnt do) and go ahead and just annihilate Satan since he is evil incarnate and make things perfect...why all the fiddle faddling around? I mean He is "God" right? If I was God I would!

Okay, well you should know that I am not a Calvinist. Neither are the writers of the bible. There is nothing in the bible about Original sin or inherited sin. The bible states that all people are created sinless.

And the purpose of Satan is to provide us with free-will. Do we have the right to free-will or not? We are Americans. I assume we all believe in free-will.

You can forgive people for things that they do to you. If your next-door neighbor's son smashes a base-ball through your window, you can choose to replace the window yourself, and forgive your neighbor. You don't need to be God to do that.

You do understand that these are philosophical arguments, right? These arguments, you pose, although interesting, are hardly based on the cold hard facts to be examined--that is the resurrection, the eyewitnesses, or the validity of the texts we have in our hands.

and what about the whole idea of "Hell"? Just it seem just to you for a suppsedly benevolent "God" who is love to make a place of endless torment and then send his creatures there who refuse to bow to His demands to suffer forever and ever and ever? Is that just?

Okay, we can talk about this. But I just want you to understand that these arguments you are posing are based on emotions and not cool facts and logic. Cool facts and logic would be about how these texts were passed down, textual variants, historical reliability--those kinds of things. I just want you to understand the difference.

Hell wasn't made for mankind. It was made for Satan. But at the time of judgment, men who are not prepared for eternity with God are placed there because they must be placed somewhere from the presence of God. Just out of curiosity, what do you do with your stuff that isn't fit for what it was made to be, and isn't of any use?

Ignorant people deny even physical evidence of God, only because they don't care to believe. Someday they will be answering to God and it will be too late for them. How very sad.

Knowlege has a way as well of changing beliefs. My 6 and 9 year olds fervently believe in the 'truth' I've told them about Santa Claus. My 13 year old rejected that truth as his world-view expanded. People believed in Zeus and Mt. Olympus just as fervently.

Mythology. That's the other guy's religion, right? The world's first (and therefore oldest) religion is still going strong. Corrupted offshoots always fade into obscurity.

Not exactly a religion, but more a way of life. And fairly modern. I was referring to Paganism.

Yes, or at least it'll evolve into a different form. What would be really interesting to see is what happens to religions when humanity spreads to other planets. With such isolation (probably) in terms of both distance and communication I think you'll see some a very diverse range of religious and moral beliefs springing up.

Paganism is pretty much a blanket term for a lot of things. Clearly defined religions with strong dogmas usually fade.

Eventually,, non belief is spreading faster than belief can be indroctinated into the human mind.. As people become more educated and ask more questions and realize where all the mumbo jumbo came from, they have an inclination to move on....

I agree. My parents still hold on to the fact that I 'accepted Jesus' when I was six. They basically told me they would be going somewhere that I couldn't follow if I didn't accept Jesus into my heart. What would any child do? I refuse to indoctrinate my children, and it terrifies them.
