I think any website that pops up and tries to force you to add them like face book does should be kicked off the web.

I don't think that facebook will be around forever, and there will always be a new thing that can overtake it. They just have to give people what they want when they want it. Just like with everything else online, complacency is death. People want new things all the time, and companies just have to stay ahead of them.

Definitely. Someone just needs to take all that is/was good about FB and use that info to make a site. For those who like the bad about FB, they can stay on FB. :)

First xanga then sconex then myspace then tumblr then Facebook. Out with the old in with the new. Facebook has so many updates that my devices don't keep up. And when they do I can't seem to find the stuff I used to like friends' updates only huge stupid pictures that have been shared. So I truly hope Facebook gets eclipsed and mark zuckerberg goes the way of Tom from MySpace....really really far away

These internet sites are cyclical. I enjoyed MySpace much more than I do Facebook. The old MySpace that is, before all the crappy so-called upgrades. If someone would come along and create a new social networked based on the early version of MySpace it would easily eclipse Facebook in popularity. Besides, from what I've read Facebook's days are numbered anyway. The internationally infamous hacker group "Anonymous" has reportedly set November 5th as the the day they will hack and take down Facebook. I guess they made such an early announcement to prove a point. It doesn't matter how long you have to prepare for them, if they want in your system, they will get in. That being said, I have NO connection to them whatsoever! I'm just repeating what I've read and heard on reputable websites.

Someday something will. Idk what, but ten years ago I was sure myspace would rule forever. MySpace had more functnality than FB, but it lost out.

Sodahead should eclipse it. It's much more useful and entertaining

When even eBay hasn't proven irreplaceable, I fail to see how social networking sites can keep their position as top of the cyber food chain indefinitely.

At least not soon. Google's been trying, but why bother switching. Except all of the various Facebook apps do get annoying.

Why bother if it is going to be almost the same thing. I think there is always a lot of hype and a new place is a big deal is why most people would think about doing similar transactions on a similar site.

Nothing last forever except change. May be #1 for long time. Both Google and Apple are, of course, very big and powerfull. If either one set it as
Their primary goal they could create a very very social site. However, they already own and control so much the justice department might jump in and say, "Wait a minute, you can't own everything.and become a monopoly." They may not be able to buy it for the same reason, and both companies are very aware of this. For Apple with net worth of over $100 billion, buying Facebook would be just pocket change.
