I don't believe in altruism. But then again, there's nothing I would do that doesn't benefit me to begin with.reply - TKramar 2011/08/28 10:04:15
There is no altruism. Even if there is no apparent benefit to you, it makes you "feel good" and therein is your reward.reply - Kat 2011/08/26 13:47:41
I believe it be something that exists, but is rare to truely find. People do things for people, either out of need to prove something, or for some other means. It's rare that people help with no expection of something in return, but there are some out there willing to put themselves before others.reply - bags 2011/08/26 13:25:23
Each person's motivation is different, just as each person is different. Some people DO 'good works' for the selfish pleasure of feeling better about themselves, or thinking they're 'buying their way into Heaven'. Some really do wish to alleviate suffering. That empathy is a sacred thing.reply - Bingo's Faddah 2011/08/26 12:28:09
Oh, it's real. I had altruism but an ointment was able to cure it.

+2I think it's real. I think people really do nice things because they care for others and want nothing in return. It goes to the saying "It is better to give than to receive".reply - Stone.Cold.Krazy 2011/08/26 11:50:33
