Do you thank a person who has been nice on the phone and/or in person?

This morning I had a conference call with someone who was very pleasant and at the end of our conversation I thanked her for being nice. She kinda of stammered and said "well, thank you, it's nice to hear that." All too often we complain when people are rude, so do you say thank you to those who are nice? If able to, do you tell their boss, what a good job they're doing?

of course i do. although i do it more often inperson because rarely talk to people i dont know on the phone. and my boss is wonderful. shes the best and i tell her thankyou all the time. and she compliments us a lot too.

But it very rarely happens because most of the time your dealing w/ people from india or some other foriegn country.

I do now since i deal with people on the phone some are nice they will help you and I had people like I was bothering them. Yes, when someone helps me out, I thank them.
Now, if it was in person i usually always thank them for helping me.

I have thanked people for their time and for them being curteous. I think I've scared a few...lol They became quiet and said "Thank you. I rarely get told nice, polite things"

I also ask for their boss or bosses voice mail to let them know how pleased I was with the customer service.

Well, as often as is appropriate, considering the low volume of calls I get, and the diminutive percentage of polite callers, but Yes - when appropriate I thank people.

If it were me I would want someone to tell me what a good job I'm doing it would help me to have a better day, to feel more confident and to know that I am on the right track.
