Do you take the opinion of someone under 18 seriously when it comes to politics?

Surfsrock~RWAC~CFM 2009/09/09 00:31:24
I’ve noticed that there are more and more kids getting into politics, which is okay but some of them are quick to dish out insults with out really knowing the whole story.
You!

You know there are a lot of kids out there who are really savvy when it comes to politics! Then there are others who just repeat what they hear. Those are the ones I dont take seriously.

If they have a well thought out argument, then there is no issue. Intelligence and ability to understand complex issues does not limit itself to an age. It seems to me that there are plenty of people way over the age of 18 that have no freaking clue about anything.

Yes and no. you can't really group everyone together. I know some of my friends call Obama "a freaking socialist idiot" when they don't know anything about him, and others that can carry a great debate.

Some are mature and know what they're talking about when they talk about polititcs. Others just jump to conclusions. So, it's about 50/50.

I am more than thrilled when persons under the legal voting age become involved... many times i have to remember that their age has much to do with their ideals.....but all in all .... they are expressing their thoughts ... that is the most important issue... whether i agree or not

Most American teenagers (not ALL, but MOST) are among the most historically, politically, and globally ignorant people in the world.
They are a part of the MTV, BET, and XBOX 360 generation and they believe the propaganda excreted by the liberal jerkoffs John Stewart, Bill Maher, and other factually-unreliable "Comedy" Central pseudo-newscasters instead of actually researching the facts for themselves.
94% of public school teachers follow a completely liberal and socialist curriculum (serving ONLY Democrat politicians) which has replaced history with politically-correct excrement to guide them into their One-world, green, One-religion, One-way belief system instead of instilling appreciation for the sacrifices of those selfless men and women who sustained our previously-great country.
Sadly, this younger generation (12-23 y/o) are a part of the "me-me-me" generation (found on MySpace and FaceBook) which elevates narcissitic values instead of patriotic appreciation.
Sadly, 90% of this younger generation are under-educated, brainwashed supporters/voters of Obama and they are too ignorant to understand why they really support him and his "values" (socialism and liberalism).

Depends on what they say and their reasons for their opinions. In fact, they should be given the same courtesy and respect anyone should.

Their presumed respect is lower because of lack of life experience.

That and the fact that they are often less well-read than adults, suggests a higher level of skepticism of their views.

We are all too quick to pigeon hole people and really that is a great tragedy since it cuts off good debate and a potential meeting of minds.

Age doesn't always equal wisdom I've noticed. There are teenagers that I know that are more well spoken and educated than a number of adults that I've met. It depends on the individual.

Age isn't relative to experience. People have been shocked sometimes when they learn I'm a teenager. I've been shocked sometimes when I learn people are adults. It affects our lives too and we are aware of that.

The ones that are quick to dish it out are the ones you should listen to. They are speaking an unbiased completey innocent remark although it may be uneducated and seem unethical it is their innocence that gives them curage to be better people. For example have you have been approched by a small child that says hello to you? For any person at any other age this would seem impolite, unethical maybe even rude. but the fact that they diden't know it was queer to do gave them to curage to it. The same goes for a teenage or even preteen discussing polotics. the fact that they know nothing allows them to speak freely.

Unfortunately, the Hollywood elite does use young kids to have their far left agenda expose. Just look at MTV in rocking the vote. Although, it is important for everyone to have their own political stance, under 18 should not be used for such. Besides, it is still, for now, a free country.

The fact that these young people are getting involved is a wonderful thing. As they experience places like this they are given an opportunity to read, for themselves, the foolishness of some.
We must have faith that they will regain some of the common sense they were born with -- as they see that there are others out "there" who represent a side, more reasonable.
I am confident that our youth sees the craziness, that they do not react worse is to their credit. I say we listen to what they are really saying. Correct, educate, and encourage them to be individuals, that is our job.

Some kids under 18 really are politically astute, but it's kinda rare. I think an over 18 can tell from an under 18's comments if they really have some sort of knowledge about the political arena, or if they're just acting like a sophomore, in which case they need to be subjected to psychological torture! muahoohoohahahahahahahaha

There are kids 18 and younger that have things on their minds other than sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. ...........

...other-than may be accurate, but never forget, Nature has us hard wired to think about important things in our lives. Sex, drugs, and rock & roll were pretty important to me at 17. But as they realize how important we are to the overall picture, and realize we can influence things, we find other natural things to be interested in. Did ya ever hear about the tremendous influence of young NY Jewish kids on their Grandparents in FL and how they voted for Obama. Pretty special campaign that was. young ny jewish kids grandparents fl voted obama pretty campaign

It should...These people will be in charge someday, they are our FUTURE!

I agree with you except for the party thing. For when you become loyal to any one party, ideology, philosophy or agenda you become blind to everything else around you. The path to enlightenment is neutrality as you will then see things around you for what they really are.

Oh dear, PLEASE don't Que them in too much now. I know, they won't listen if it ain't Fox Noise, but be careful. The Neo-cons have marginalized the Republican Party into a right-wing, southern-confederate arm of the KKK & Neo-Nazis & Skin-heads. Soon, we should be rid of them and encourage a new 3 party system. Right to left; Progressive-Democrats, Liberal-Democrats, Social-Democrats. We'll still fight, but at least the Bottom-line will be the same,..People not the Dollar. Humanity, not greed. party progressive-democrats liberal-democrats social-democrats fight bottom-line people dollar humanity greed
