Do you support the death penalty?

I definitely do. I think in cases where there's overwhelming proof or a proven confession of one's guilt murderers should be given the death penalty. In fact, I don't think it's used often or quick enough. They shouldn't get to wait 10 years, they should kill them as soon as they're sentenced. I also don't think they should get it as easy as lethal injection. We should go back to hangings and guillotines.

    It is just wrong to kill. What are we teaching our children if we kill someone who kills someone? that killing is right. State sanctioned murder is still murder. Locking someone up for the rest of his or her life is a worse punishment. Nothing is going to bring the dead back to life, but spending the rest of their life in prison thinking about what they did everyday for the rest of their lives sounds like hell to me.

    If someone killed the one person I loved id probably kill them knowing the law wouldn't.
    A child molester should be executed first offense.

    Neither of the answers available accurately reflect my thoughts on this subject. I am in fact opposed to the death penalty but for reasons different that those presented. Our legal system is very, very far from perfect and many people on death row have been proven innocent in recent years due to DNA data.

    ...killing is either acceptable or it isn't. If killing is okay, why was the killer tried for it; and if killing is NOT okay, why is the state doing it??...besides, in a legal system like ours, where verdicts are decided by lawyers' personalities and money rather than guilt or innocence, the chances are far too great of executing innocent people...

    You have a shortage of answers here. I believe there are crimes that call for the death penalty, no doubt. Unfortunately, justice is not blind, and is not administered fairly. If you're poor, or non-white, it's much more likely you'll be executed than that a rich (or even middle class) or white person who committed the same crime will be. And that's not right. Until we can rectify that problem, we shouldn't be executing anyone.

    I also think that rather than evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, in death penalty cases, there ought to be evidence beyond the shadow of a doubt. If we're asking for the ultimate penalty, we ought to be completely certain that we aren't making a mistake.

    In some cases it's necessary. I believe, on one hand, that what you have done should be done to you. On the other, death would be the easy way out and a life sentence to rot in jail would serve an adequate punishment as well

    thats a very touchy one, i don't like jumping straight to killing them. but is it any better to lock them up for life then spend our hard earned tax money to cloth and feed those who make no contribution to society what-so-ever in most cases. why not use that money to help our homeless instead of keeping alive those who would take life from others?

    it doesn't help that we have an extremely poor justice system. planted evidence, corrupt judges, prejudice cops, etc.

    I can't believe there's more people for the death penalty than there are against it. -_- Are people really that blind? They can't see how immoral and foolish it is? Humans don't have the right to decide who deserves to live and die. They just love to play God though. :/

    prisoners escape , sentences get overturned do to some minor mistake by the courts i say sentanced to death should be done the next day at sunrise A bullet or ten to the brain !!!!
