Yes we do, it's good to use when one of us is home and therefore has no need to use their cell phone.

I ran into some hard times and had to give my $180 a month cell phone bill. Thank God for the home phone.

It is the number I give to people I do not want to talk to, but I also use it to call people if I am going to be on for a while.

It has been about a decade since we had one in our home. A few years before simply because it was part of a "package". Never used it.

We use VOIP at work. Not cellular, and over the internet. Still a "land line" (Cable), but it does not use a "phone" line.

I have overseas family, and its much cheaper and unlimited once you pay for it to make overseas calls on a land line. Plus, I think the sound quality is better. And the whole cell-phone radiation thing. I think better be safe than sorry!

Land lines are STILL the most reliable way to make a phone call. Cell phones are not subject to the strict standards imposed on the land line system.

Sort of. I have a land line at my house, but the lines are so bad it's barely usable. Especially if it's raining.

Where I live there is no cell service in my house. Funny part is that I live on top of a mountain.

The next time you go outside look up and follow the telephone line. Your boss, or school probably use land lines to prevent private information like school records or credit card numbers from being stolen.

Use the headphones, speaker, headset, text instead of call, etc... I rarely have my phone near my head anymore. ;-)

Mobile phones have proved there weight in gold ,saved many lives and stopped me going grey because I know where my daughter is unless she forgets her phone but then who she is with will have a phone with them .
But on the down side sometimes you cannot get a signal or your battery dies or you run out of credit . My neighbours will often need to use my land line because their phones are not working or they cannot find their chargers and me well I would not be with out one .

cell phones are highly over rated. What people like are emergencies are simply inconveniences.

No cell service where I live (unless I use a micro cell tower.. and that doesn't work when the electric or internet is down.)
