Do you say "thanks for your service" when someone tells you they have served in the military?

A fellow vet usually says "If you ever need to talk, I'm there for you."

I say more along the line of: No thanks for serving, no thanks for murdering innocent people on 'my' and 'the rest of this countrys' behalf, and all because the person(s) 'running it' decide to wage war/invasion.

Fighting back is defensive. As offense, it is immoral.
If I have to tell somebody murder (even for hire, that's what militants are) is wrong, then those people have a mental disorder.

Honestly, no. I've never heard of that, most of the time I ignore it or say something like "Oh, that's cool/sucks/I'm here for you man" depending on the situation. I don't really feel comfortable thanking them for risking their lives for something I think is stupid and or wrong. It just wouldn't be sincere.

2 of my brother in-laws are ex marines,1 a lifer, the other 12 years, my uncles all fought in ww2, don't know of any who didn't, but no i never even talked to any of them about it, let alone thank them, i feel if you wanted to be in the military, now..good for you, while i ..if i had children, would tell them, don't you even think about it, we are not in afganistan, iraq and libya, for a justified reason..this was a false flag attack, by the CIA and the mossad..and i would not want my kids fighting for the federal reserve corporation, the rothschilds and the state of israel..again libya the same, now syria, and soon iran..of course under NATO, with the UN stamp of approval

Unless I know what they did. They could have raped and murdered children for fun for all I know. Aka. The kill squad.

I also served in the military, so it seems a strange to thank someone for doing what I believe all Americans should do. Through the military or volunteerism of some sort, I believe we should all commit to service.

I am a vet and wear a hat that says so, I'm out in the public every day and most days someone tells me thank you and we shake hands and keep going our ways, That is about all we need to do, It makes me very proud for someone to notice. Even more so when this person is young or under 20 years old. One thing that I would like to see is the draft coming back. Everybody would have to serve 1 1/2 to 2 years in the service after high school. there would be less crime and more respect for our fellow citizens.

And thanks to all you vets out there

    Sgt. Don
