Do you resent the word Christmas?

Absolutely not. I'm a Buddhist, but I respect others' traditions. I see nothing wrong with calling the holiday "Christmas." It's doesn't offend me at all.

Dosn't bother me.

Course not. Twinkling lights, decorated trees, warm drinks, candles and lit fireplaces, candy canes, Santa Claus, reindeer, carolers, those Salvation Army guys ringing their bells, charity, It's A Wonderful Life, family, good cheer and happiness towards men, and the kindly gentleman that brought it to us.

I'm been watching The Ref lately, though.

Not at all, I don't hate anything, but I sure do dislike those who would destroy Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Veterans Day or even Memorial Day. You can't regulate or legislate Morality in a Free Society. Good examples of that are Abortion, Gay Marriage, Christmas is not evil in and of itself. But the Atheists, and the Progressives that believe that being politically correct is the correct path. Sooner or later, Common Sense will prevail in this society. The biggest concern I have is that way to many including those in both parties think that this country is a Democracy. Its not, it was founded as a Constitutional Republic. Until those who think they know what is best for this country take that to heart. We will always be held hostage by both parties, and they both will keep leading us down the path of all other so called Democracies. Sooner or later the progressive, will admit that Socialism, Communism, or Marxism has never lasted. sooner or later it fails, in fact in most countries that follow those ideologies they fail at every turn, while they are in power, But the elite just keep pressing forward with keeping the people at or near the serf level. And oft times keep those not in power suppressed. Only when the money runs out, do the serfs finally stand up for themselves.

I do resent folks being forced to say Happy Holidays for fear of offending someone...and I had done enough retail to know it goes on...I purposly say Merry Christmas in those stores

It's just a word. Xmas also does it but it wouldn't bother me if they called it Santa day or even uncle Frank in a red suit day. Doesn't matter, not to me.

We know it means different things to different people, but it is named for what it is supposed to be about, so nope.

It is more respectful to say Happy Holidays if you do not know a person because there are other religions celebrating much older and some younger, holidays, around the same time.

I don't really like that "Christ" is in the word, because religion doesn't really have anything to do with the holiday for many people anymore. It's more about family now for some, and others it's about greed

Somewhat mostly because the holiday ( just like Easter and Halloween) is basically a copy of a pagan holiday from a religion which Christianity tried to destroy.. In this case the holiday Yule which is a much better holiday for me (not saying it's better as neither is just a personal preference).

why would i ? nothing wrong with celebrating the birth of christ is there ? what it's become though is buying stuff you cant afford , give to people you dont like and in return you get stuff you cant use .

If people resent words such as Christmas and Easter, then perhaps they need to get over it or consider moving to a country that does not use Christiandom's Holidays.

It's just a word. Nothing more.

I grew up waiting on Santa to bring me toys and decorating the Christmas tree. But I'm older and much wiser now and I now know the true meaning of Christmas, which I've not only read in the bible, but I've researched Christmas to it's true meaning and found out distrubing information about it. Did you know SANTA also spells SATAN?

I really don't resent any word. It takes people to earn my resentment.

What I do resent are its origins, but more importatantly what it has become.

While I am not a Christian, I just take it as a festive holiday. Its not about "the birth of Christ" anymore. Its about spending time with those you love and exchange presents.

As a child I wondered where the mas part of the word came from. Till I found out Christmas was invented by Catholics 300 years after Christs birth.

I voted no cause Christmas represent a commerical holidays and there is no proof what day Christ was born. There is no proof in the holy scripture that the Hebrews celebrate bithdays. So therefore Christmas is a hoax.
