This lazy Saturday afternoon I was thinking of the good old days. Though it might be fun to see if we can list some of the things about the Good Old Days. Such as Sunday Drives, Telephone Party lines and etc. Memories, memories what comes to your mind.

As far as I am concerned they stopped making Cars after the sixties.
They all just started making cookie cutter cars from then on.

Or maybe a sign that reads(NOT SO SMART AFTER ALL)I don't really care what they call the darn thing-I'm smart enough not to buy one of their death traps in the first place! If you got hit by a darn go cart that might total the darn thing out.

I listened to The Shadow, The Lone Ranger, Sherry Lewis and Lambchop and a bunch of others on Sunday morning early. I'd get up and crawl in my Mom and Dad's bed and listen before church!

My first was a '51 two door Chevy that was so low you couldn't get a king size pack of cigs between the frame and the street. I got 5 tickets in one night just taking my wife to a dance! It was to low-it didn't have a stock horn-one lite was out and I was racing with another young nit wit at the same time! I think my wife never got over that night even 47 years later.I still think if she wouldn't have grabed my shifter I would have won that race and out ran that cop at the same time! Because they always got the guy that lost the race back then.

One day back in the late 50's our family took our Saturday afternoon drive (We lived in NW Ohio) and we ended up in Niagra Falls! We stayed all night, we all got to swim at the hotel, saw the Falls and came home on Sunday. Everything was just fine. My parents had left the front door wide open with only an unlocked screen door (as our intention was not to go that far) and the dog was waiting for us in the front yard. Priceless. Today the plasma TV and stereo system would have been stolen within an hour and the dog would have been impounded. lol

I also have vivid memories of walking down the street with my pink transistor at my ear singing along to all the great songs, going to A&W; and having the car hop wait on us and spending Sundays at my grandparents.

Does anyone out there remember the game "Ghost in the Graveyard?" We loved to play that after dark when our parents would let us stay out late. How could I forget the Pogo Stick? I was pretty darn good at that.

Great question, Belle. It's fun to take a trip down memory lane and recall the good old days.

Betz (not Bessie), thanks for sharing a great memory of your family happening with us. I love to stop and think about those carefree days, when strangers were not really considered strangers. People would give you a ride, especially the soldiers on a leave trying to get home for a few days.
carefree days strangers strangers people ride soldiers leave home days

edited a name that I screwed upon, sorry
