Bulanova (Team Hargitay) 2012/08/12 02:24:37Alone+4Every time I got stuck in a group, everyone expected me to do all the work - which I did, because I had higher standards (I wanted an A whereas everyone else was fine with a C) -_-;

Oh, but I do find it odd that about ninety percent of the people on here are complaining about getting stuck with all the work. Maybe we need a bit of perspective.
I think in other situations where the task is either simple, or you are both competent in different but complementary things, it can be a very good thing. The problem is that I've been on projects where we had way too many chiefs and no Indians.

social loafing is the phenomenon of people exerting less effort to achieve a goal when they work in a group than when they work alone.
But if the members of the group are well coordinated and well motivated, they will work hard and produce "synergy".

Synergy is two or more things functioning together to produce a result not independently obtainable. The term synergy comes from the Greek word synergia συνεργία from synergos, συνεργός, meaning "working together".
