1 Thanksgiving day of stuffing myself sick.
1 Christmas day of the same stuff in smaller portions.
1 Birthday of cake and ice cream.
1 Halloween night of snacking on candy that doesn't get passed out.
360 days of watching what I eat and keeping the junk to the minimum.
I think I'll take my chances. ;)

It happens every year. Around 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, we are so stuffed that we vow never to eat again.

According to The Wall Street Journal, that "food coma" effect isn't just about feeling sleepy -- it can also take a toll on your health. Cells that line the blood vessels temporarily function less efficiently after a person eats a high-fat meal.
But come on: It's really, really hard to pace yourself on Thanksgiving. At our house, our mom puts out several appetizers only an hour two before the big meal. Then, after the turkey, sweet potatoes and stuffing, out comes several types of pie. Apple pie is our favorite, but we love the sweet potato casserole even more.
Between avoiding the "food coma" and all the talk of going meatless or vegan this Thanksgiving, it kind of feels like some people are trying to take all the fun out of the holiday. Sure, it's not healthy to gorge yourself, but it can't be so bad to do it ONCE a year, right?
Plus, if you're lucky, you have the day off on Friday -- meaning you have all day to catch a workout. Or, if you're like us, grab a plate of leftovers. Do you overeat on Thanksgiving?

It's once year, and there are items that are only made on Thanksgiving so I enjoy each while they are there...
I'm just very thankful and grateful we have the opportunity to enjoy an indulgence, especially in these economic times....Isn't that what being thankful is all about???
