Do you only buy fruit/vegetables when they are in season?

I don't care if something is a "summer fruit" or a "winter vegetable". It's summer elsewhere in the world so I'll buy food that's imported from there ;)

I like to eat many types of fruits and vegetables, although I do buy more when it's in season.

Food is food, and if I like it enough, I'll pay a bit more for it.

I really like berries and fruit, so I often buy all year 'round.

Well, actually there are veggies and fruit from Central and South America, apples from Japan,etc... here in North America, when we are not in season, but still much higher out of our season. I actually grow my own tomatoes, garlic and peppers and miss them when they play out, store bought tomatoes suck, no flavor. Also, watermelon, cantelopes and strawberries are only delicious during our local season.

I have no idea when a fruit or vegetable is in season. I'm sure much of it is grown under cover these days anyway.

However, I only buy homegrown tomatoes. I don't buy them at the store. So wintertime I buy canned tomatoes, and in summer I eat fresh tomatoes til I turn orange almost!! :)

Because I try to buy locally and support local farmers. Not only is the fruit more fresh, but you also pay less, because you don't have to pay those shipping costs.

I can't say I ALWAYS do this, but I do try to.

I buy whatever fruit's the cheapest. I usually have apples and bananas in the house, but when things are cheap I'll go for more variety.

Plus my tastebuds are a bit paranoid. I swear off season fruit tastes funny.

I think that it is. First, it's shipped, so they keep it on ice, or hot house it to grow it, and it just doesn't taste as good.

That makes sense. Glad to know it's not just me then.
