I was once held hostage in my apartment for about half an hour by this skunk that decided to take a breather right in front of my door at 2 in the morning as I was trying to leave for work.

I have seen skunks in my area but rarely. Only once and awhile. I prefer to stay away from skunks. Better not to look for skunks. They will stink you up if you find them.

Over the last couple years I feel like they've been becoming a problem actually. One was living in my shed until we made it unlivable, and I always run into one on my front lawn (maybe the same guy). I'm a night person, so I run into skunks more often than anyone else in my family.

Had one spray my dog right outside the back door last fall. I heard my dog barking opened the door to see what was going on and got hit with what I describe as skunk chemical warfare. Me, my dog, my house we all smelled for days. The tomato juice was pure folly.

Had a hunter tell me the best solution for a dog sprayed by a skunk. Now don't laugh....it worked like a charm. Summers Eve!! You're right....tomato juice did nothing!

Lol, my dog is a giant mutt probably close to eighty pounds can you imagine the looks I'd have gotten if I'd bought enough Summers Eve to even get him wet. I swear though I would have tried it on my own hair, the stink was that bad.
My vet recommended Dawn dishwashing liquid, baking soda and peroxide. I don't remember the exact proportions but it worked better than the tomato juice, just couldn't use it on my hair because the peroxide bleaches the color out. My black dog looked a little redish for awhile.

Been there done that and yes got some really strange looks. I bought all that Walmart had on the shelf and then some out of the back stock room. Have plenty left over incase it happens again. lol I have an 87lb mutant and a 137lb mutant. I think it took 15 4-pks for the big dog and 10 for the little guy because he's long haired. All you have to use is enough to soak them down good. You don't rinse it out. Just let it sit over night then brush them down good. Worked like a charm. I had a harder time getting the freakin smell out of my nose than anything. I live in a small country town so though I did get some strange looks I also got quite a few....."skunk attack huh?" comments.

Yes, here too...well, except not too much the turkeys. We have for the last 3 or 4 years have had several different groups of vultures move in town and there will be like 30 or so living in different trees around town...it's pretty eerie!! I also saw a badger running down the middle of main street one night awhile back...

I saw an eagle a few years back soaring over the back yard, it was awesome! The wingspan was great enough that my husband was in shadow when it flew over him.

Yes, me too...I saw a black cat or panther one night last summer coming home from my son's...don't see them often, Bobcats you do...also there was a black bear roaming around the area for several months too. My husband saw it coming home from work one night...a wildlife guy shot it in his yard eating out of the bird feeder.

There's a bear up around my Ma's place. You don't want to have bird feeders out or throw out bread or anything if they're around.
