No! I don't have an ice cream maker. But I use to make it with my Dad when I was a kid. I loved doing it! It was so delicious!!.. :)

We made some ice cream in my chemistry class as part of an experiment though, it was surprisingly pretty good.

I make my own beer instead. I spend the extra money for high quality ice cream.

No. We did it once or twice as a kid but it wasn't that great as I remember. I just as soon buy ice cream.

Can't say that I do. I don't have a clue as to how to make it. I'm also a lazy person. I just go to the store to buy it. It's a whole lot easier that way

I just made Mint Chocolate Chip.
I grew the mint and my parents chickens supplied the egg yolks. It's really good.

It is so good made with real mint and not mint extract.
This is the first time I made it. The ice cream has a natural green color too (not white or color green)

Man! Makes my mouth water just thinking of it. Good for you Jimbo. I never have tried making home made ice cream. I'm sure the mint probably turned it that nice green color there.

Ice cream is easy to make. We have an attachment bowl to the Kitchen Aid mixer.
No ice and salt to worry about.

The thing of it is though is that if you use it long enough then it will pay for itself over time. And if it's a good machine then it should last for years

The ice cream bowl was free. I bought the mixer at Costco.

does that attachment fit all kitchen aid mixers or just a certain size?

It fits different sizes but I don't know if it fits all of them. I know there is an attachment that goes on the bottom that my Kitchen Aid does not use and the side has a lock for the large and small mixer.

    Jimbo
French Vanilla (you can add what ever you want the last few minutes of mixing)
2 1/2 Cups Half and Half
    8 egg yolks
    1 cup sugar
    2 1/2 cups whipping cream
    4 teaspoons vanilla
    pinch of salt

Heat half and half over medium heat until very hot but NOT boiling
    Remove from heat
(I cooked the mint leaves in the half and half and let it set for 45 minutes and strained out mint leaves)
In bowl mix egg yolks and sugar until until well blended
Very gradually add hot half and half to egg/sugar mixture
    mix until blended
return the mixture to the sauce pan and cook over medium heat until the mixture is steamy but NOT boiling.
Pour mixture into large bowl and stir in whipping cream
Cover and chill in fridge for at least 8 hours

pour in ice cream maker and make ice cream
(2 minutes before it's done I added small chunks of chocolate to the mint ice cream) You can add what ever you want to it.

I also put it in a air tight plastic container and let it chill in the freezer over night but you don't have to.
