it doesn't bother me. I wear shoes inside the house too. ( sometimes) they should only take off their shoes if they have dirt or mud on them, but other than that if they're clean i wouldn't worry about it.

Well, I try, but they don't listen. So I stopped bitching about it, but I would enforce it if the people coming over didn't scare me so much.

I would prefer that they did because I have dark carpet and have to vacuum like twice a day anyway, but I don't force them to.

Our main levels are now just walnut hard wood floor and tile (quad level house). Our finished basement is carpeted in indoor/outdoor (play room). The top level is carpet (office, bedrooms), but no one goes up there.

I like not having to make people take their shoes off.

i have white carpet and a basket of new footies in my hall closet. They put them on and can take them home when they leave. The hostess gives the guests a hostess gift.

Yeah because some family members & friends have their kids over my house. Also because when you wear socks around the house they wont get as filthy & it stops mud from being tracked in on the wood floors in my house. But it is mainly just a OCD thing with me.

Sounds like the author of this question has a "foot fetish"! Certainly nolt upon entering the house! The answer is that a woman would not have to take her shoes off unless she was getting into bed with me. I do not want to be stabbed to death with high heels. (LOL !)

Hell no. I wear my shoes in the house, why tell others if you aren't going to do it yourself? Besides, our carpets are already dirty, who cares if we attract a little more dirt? We certainly don't. Well... my mom does, but we still don't care if anyone wears shoes in the house.

I don't make it mandatory, but most people see that my family isn't wearing shoes, so they usually take their shoes off..

My mom is weird about her floors because they are "expensive" and she doesn't want them damaged... and she worries about people tracking in dirt and things. And quite frankly I'm scared of her so off with the shoes.
