Do you look down on people who work in fast food?

★☆Ams★☆ 2012/06/16 00:07:03
You!

I was reading an article on Yahoo about how some resturants mistreat their workers, and some of the comments people made implied that anyone who works in fast food must be a high school dropout with no ambition or an illegal immigrant. That seems pretty ignorant to me. What do you think?

Everyone does jobs they don't want to sometimes. As long as there are people that want to eat fast food, there will have to be people who work for a fast food restaurant.

Every job has merit, even if the employee is not paid enough to live on. Every working person is trying to make an honest living, so my hat is off to them.

Not at all. A job's a job and there is dignity in labour. It's doing your bit to look after yourself and not be dependent. Hip hip hooray for fast food workers :-)

I think the only one I look down on is myself. I sometimes feel I should have a better job, and I am trying. It's hard to not feel guilty thinking that, but that's why I work the best I can and be glad I have something to work with.

Low pay doesn't mean someone isn't a hard worker. It certainly isn't a job I would want. I consider myself fortunate to have a good job with excellent benefits and looking down on someone with a lower paying job is just wrong.

Not at all. It is either a good starting point, or at least a contribution to something. I look down on all the idiots who sit on their arse, mooch off tax payer money and expect everyone else to support them.

Everyone has to begin somewhere or works a second job and nobody should be looked down upon for doing a hard days work in any field. There are kids in High School who do this and I give them credit for doing so besides being in school. When I was young, I was a food server in a Buffet restaurant and also worked as a Motel maid because I wanted to make my own money.

Anyone who is judgmental of what another does are the same people who might criticize the car a person drives, their income, status, housing, etc., and again, filters down from how they might have been taught to think.
