..in my line of work you have to or you loose the case! I have to know the other side of the story as much as I know our client's side!

I would say that I listen to both sides approximately 98% of the time. At work, I always do but when it comes to the family, I can usually figure out what is going on without needing both sides :P

On most issues. Even red light runners.

    Not pedophiles. Not torturers.

I try to but if someone close to me is telling a side I might take their word for it. But normally i balance it out, I only care about the truth.

Well if I'm honest, in the past I haven't always. Sometimes I'll hear somebodies side first and I'll just believe them immediately. But nowadays.. it's a different story because I've learned my lesson.

Sometimes if two of my very good friends are feuding or two family memebers. I try to be unbiased but if it were a friend and a stranger I would definetey take my friends side.

it is the only fair thing to do. if one person is lying, and you only listen to them, youd never really know who is tellin the truth

I try to find out both sides. Usually the first story you hear is the person trying to justify themselves as being right.

If you ever have any intention of making an informed choice you need both sides. Other wise you're just like the sheep. Look what that got us.

I hope I listen to both sides of a story and I do believe that the answer or the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I may listen or read but that doesn't mean I will change my opinion just as I am only giving my opinions, thoughts and ideas here and wouldn't expect to change anyone else's mind either. Open communication is a good thing and I'm always interested in what others have to say.

There is usually more that two sides to anything, but that aside I will listen to anyone who is reasonable. When they start cussing out the "other" side and me when it seems that I have a position that is different than theirs, that willingness to listen evaporates. Doesn't mean that I'm always reasonable either of course.

    And even when you do:)
The problem lies in the fact that people can see the same thing and yet they can all see something different. Ever see something when you're frightened?
The guy trying to get into your house is this huge burlier dude and...
The cops get there and this killer is just a drunk kid (still tall with tons of hair:) but not the threat you saw when he was pounding on your door.

Even at an early age, I tended to look at things from other perspectives (and not just from my side--or part, rather, of the mountain)--that doesn't make me a very strong debater =P.
It makes me seem weaker in the eyes of some, but that's certainly not the case.

age perspectives side--or mountain--that strong debater weaker eyes case

Yes, especially when someone is accusing someone else of something. It get's my attention more, when name calling and blame are thrown abound. The one always telling the story, seems to make themselves out to be the victim, and the other person they are at odds with, are the perpetrator, and vice versa.

Even after listening to both sides of a story, I still don't take sides, as long as you don't do anything negative to me, I don't have a problem with either one of the people who are telling thier side of the story.
