First Lady Michelle Obama turned 49 on Thursday and celebrated with a new hairstyle, a glamorous sleek pageboy featuring bangs. Mrs. Obama's office also debuted a new Twitter handle, @FLOTUS, and tweeted a photo of her sporting the 'do as she met with David Hall, one of eight citizen co-chairs for Monday's inauguration.

It's fine.
I prefer afros on black women.
But I like natural hair on everyone. The whole chemical straightening thing & the thought of burning one's scalp in order to force something unnatural is just creepy to me.
But whatever. To each his/her own.

What's great is that dress! Fantastic dress!
She really does look great all the way round.

What you prefer on black women is irrelevent. White women also get perms (chemical curls) to add body and texture to their hair and white women also get relaxers to straighten their hair as well as the use of straightening irons. The way a woman wears her hair is more abot style, culture and celebrity. Also, not all black women's hair can be worn in an afro. We have a lot of different types of hair texture just like we have various skin hues. I don't know whether you are black or white but I found your comment creepy!

I think perms are generally awful.
I just think that the perms black people use are painful & I like natural styles all the way around... on people, in general... of all races. Cutting is one thing, but I am just not into chemicals, generally. They damage the hair... sometimes badly. I feel the same about irons, etc. Though I would say that color can be pretty funky when it's done "right."

You can think my comment is creepy. That's okay.

just what has done that will do anything to help one child? Poor parenting is the issue here, not first lady politics! As far as helping our troops and families, I remember her PSA's but has she got her hands dirty
/ Has she really got out and done something, helped but money in a bank account, put food on the table or else"? Talk is cheap, especially when I don't she or her husband supports me or any of my brothers.

Me too! Her own hair is softer. She had some hair tracks added to the top portion and it's too stiff looking. Not appealing to her facial features.
