I think people should prioritize happiness once they have a degree of fiscal certainty, but some people make themselves miserable in pursuit of other things and I'm smart enough to know I can't do anything about it. Everyone must learn for himself/herself.

As a psychologist I believe everyone should make their own decisions, however a lot of my patients aren't truly happy with how their living.

Of course I won't force them to detach themselves from whatever is bringing them down, but if they come in willingly, asking for my help i won't hesitate to provide it. But they're still in charge of their own life and actions

And, yes, I do try to learn what would be best for each of my individual patients

Not very easy for some people. A lot of people want to hang on to what they're use to, even if it makes them miserable. For other people they want a change so badly that they'll do anything to get it. Once they take my advice they're much happier with life.

I just try to help them think rationally about situations instead of letting emotions get in the way of what will ultimately benefit them
