My friends mom... She lost her mind during menopause, she got that therapy because of major psychotic episodes. Now she's doing good, I think, I don't know for sure if she's becoming normal because I met them in the middle of it all. I have seizures which produce a similar after effect. electroshock therapy

...but it always seemed a temporary solution, unlike frontal lobotomies.

He was 12 an kept running away from catholic boarding schools, so they took him away and fixed him. He was dead by age 23. It was my mothers youngest brother and I didn't meet him but it is a family story.

It happens, I guess. Glad it's not the "norm" anymore or I'd have received treatments for not listening Lol!

I do, someone dear to me. Long story, so I'll just say it was voluntary, and suggested after a crippling bout of depression. I was opposed to it, he wasn't, and he doesn't regret it. It helped him.

I was listening to a discussion on the subject some time ago which involved some the people it was done to. It seems that it is still being used because it is a useful form of therapy for a significant number of people, these days though it done in a far more humane way then it was done in the good old days. It seems no one knows why it works but when it does the result can be fantastic.

I had electrical modality application therapy, on my back, at a chiropractor in the past. It actually helped out quite a bit.

My mother. In her late teens and early twenties back when they thought it was the way and it was pretty harsh. They still use it I believe but it's much less severe.
