Do you know anyone dead or injured cuz of DUI ?

Around Christmas of last year a friend of my brother and I was killed in a car accident by another man that had been previously arrested for drinking while driving 6 TIMES. This man was fleeing police and slammed into the back of our friend's car killing him instantly. I can't believe the audacity of these people who have NO regard for another human beings life. Our friend was a Vet, had 2 kids and one on the way. It still makes me mad to this day.

a friend of my mother, she flew out of her window and injured her leg. she has a huge scar right now, but at least she can still move her leg and she's alive :3

Not in my immediate family but my husband's grandmother was killed by a drunk driver way back in 1937.

Yes I do and it is a shame ... This Country is NOT tuff enough on DUI IMO

but i had a friend spend 2 years in lock up down the street from my house for a beer and a half early in the day from the night she got in a car wreck just because she had alcohol in her system so I don't drink and drive.. period. After going there to see her every 2 weeks and once a month to take her socks and underwear you learn fast its not worth it.

Yes. I know and individual that lost his wife and 8 year old son to a drunk driver. He and his 10 year old daughter were severly injured in the accident and spent over two months in the hospital recuperating. It was a terrible tragedy the he and his daughter will have a hard time every putting behind them.

Thank you. They are doing well. The accident was just over a year ago and the indivdual that hit them just pleaded guilty. He had a list of priors including drug abuse as well as a previous DUI. Sentencing is sometime towards the end of this month.

A couple years ago my cousin was badly injured in a car crash. She and her friends had been out late at night, I guess they went out clubbing. The weather wasn't that nice though, it was raining I believe so they decided to drive home, even though they all knew they were tipsy, almost hammered.
At like 4am we got the call from my Aunt my cousin was in the hospital, she broke her arm and fractured ribs, almost fractured her spine since she wasn't wearing a seat belt.
The stupidity of my cousin still alarms me. She had even called my Aunt to tell her she was driving drunk, but my Aunt couldn't get there in time -.-
Her friends weren't too injured, but since she was the driver she was charged with DUI as well as careless driving and speeding. She ran a red light at an intersection and ended up smashing into another car and the side of a telephone pole.

It's terrible how alcohol can negatively influence an intelligent mind.
