    In a nice area. But a year or so ago a friend o mine and her daughter were the victims of a 'thrill killing', 4 teens with machetes. When it strikes people like them, in areas like this, you know there but for the grace of the Creator go I, and you start taking home invasions/house break-ins seriously.

    I live in a bedroom community. Still, keep 'em locked so I know that anyone in the house is there to do me wrong.

    I live in a apartment. One time the window was unlocked and I got robed. I even keep my bedroom door open to listen to the whole apartment. Making sure no one is opening or moving around. It sucks some times because I have roomies and I always wake up when they do if not before from anticipation of movement. I am just way to sensitive and paranoid.

    I keep my room door open (for my sis if she wants to come in in the morning), but we have safety doors in the hallway and off course we have a lot of security outside. We have a double lock on the front door and also a security gates in front of every outer door in the house. Also alarms, dogs, motion sensors and so on.
    I live in Africa. The chances on dying at night is about as good as in Minecraft.

    We lock our doors. I remember growing up and my grandparents leaving their screen doors locked and leaving the main door open. I was nice. Now they cant their block has turned to crap. Its sad.

    I could not sleep if I thought my house was unlocked. I check all the doors, put the dead bolts on, check the window locks and make sure everything is locked. I don't live in a high crime area but you just never know anymore.

    I don't usually, but it's happened a time or two. We live in a safe area, but you never know when that could change.

    Way back in the 70's & 80's it was safe to leave your door unlocked. Now our houses and yards look like jails. My sister and her 3 children were held up twice with guns against their heads in her house. Best to lock your doors at night. Government does nothing about crime in our country.

    Thank you, my sister and the family eventually moved. They went out to a new years eve party 31/12/2010 and when they got home, their house was almost empty. The even stole their dustbin with the trash ☺. Now they live in a much safer area and a safer house, only way to get in is with a bulldozer. I'm sure if our houses was not built with a proper foundation, they would steal the whole house with the contents.

    I never used to before, but now there are kids in our block that just walk into houses, and also there is a scary, phsyco guy and a cat killer living in my neighbourhood. I live in a surburbian area just 15 minutes away from the capital(Oslo, Norway).

    I live in Chicago. The doors here are locked! Even when we lived in a rural area in the 50s we locked our doors.

    Leave the keys in our cars, doors unlocked, everything. Never had a problem. If anyone comes looking for trouble, my dog will let me know and they will die. I love my dead end dirt road.
