Nope. Since we are a family of nudist who live out in the country and dress for no one who comes to visit all the relatives stay away.

Quite a few (birth and adoptive). Most I just stay away from. One comes around more than I'd like (only when she wants something). One I actually got somewhat close to after she moved in w/ me (I was there for her but made it clear I wanted not drama) she stayed for a year but after moving out went back to her old ways and now we hardly speak.

The main one in my life, I cannot simply "ignore" or isolate myself from. She's my mother, as well as my (younger) sister's. She's on of the few people that makes it very hard not to let my temper get the better of me, but if I want to have my sister in my life, I have to control myself. So, I put up with it for her (sister). Once she's grown though, we (mother & I) will probably not have much of a relationship. It's sad but unfortunately true.

Yep... that person is probably me, but I always make good. I'd also rather deal with a parasitic relative than the distant one who only comes around when they want to tell you what to do with your life.

And that's why I live many mines away and in a different time zone, They could care less if I were dead or alive anyway.

I used to, I help them out with food and things they needed for years, I felt she was my best friend, but when my mom got sick last nov. , although she said she always be there for me, well, needless to say we aren't friends any more. I was mad, then I for gave her thinking well maybe I asked to much of her in late Jan. when they were my moms last few days, so I went to her house, she told me she didn't need any friends

Aunty Fiona lived with her mother til she was like 35. Sweet old grandma was too nice to kick her out. Eventually she got a boyfriend and moved in with him for a few years, then they broke up and she tried to move back in with grandma. Grandma put her foot down and only let her stay a short time until she found her own place.

Estranged from my siblings....Prior to that, yes.

i'm estranged from my family for that reason. :(

Look, those are THEIR problems - they can only be a parasite if YOU don't pick them off. Sorry, but I can't blame them for being what they are.

Problem is, I was in a position where I had to choose b/t enduring an asshat or alienating two grandchildren and abandoning them to poverty and stupidity. Couldn't do it. I will always err on the side of the grandchildren.

They are my weakspot, too.

I must be getting soft in my old age. I'm actually thinking of springing for a cruise for them. Not for the parents, but so the kids can actually have a vacation with their parents. They've never had one other than water parks and amusement parks once or twice.
