I actually don't have one - now. When I was a child and new here though I had a strong accent. I imagine now that it must have been a cute little accent. Unfortunately it was Long Island in the 70s and they don't like things that are... different.

People have told me I sound like Im either from New York or the south.I guess that makes since because my dad is from Brooklyn and my mom is from Tennessee.

It's in the cupboard ! Seriously, while living in Ohio, I had no accent. Now living in Tennessee, people that I speak to can tell that I was not raised locally.

I am from the west country also and I find hardly anyone has anything beyond a 'standard English' accent apart from Bristolians and in that surrounding area - is that where you're from?

I was brought up in Bath, but now live in Bristol. My parents were not from the west country so my accent is not that strong, however there are often times when I hear myself saying words with a west country burr.

I think it's faded from most places in the Southwest now, which is sad in some ways really... I lived in Bath for a few years while I was at Uni; a beautiful city :)
