You know what a muffin top is, right? That unsightly roll of fat that hangs over your jeans? Turns out, it can kill you.

A new study suggests men and women with the biggest waistlines have twice the risk of dying over a decade compared to those with the smallest tummies, the Associated Press reports.

Bigger waists pose a greater risk of death even for people whose weight is "normal" by the body mass index -- meaning even if you have sexy legs and a taut behind, that extra belly blubber is still dangerous.

People with bigger waists had a higher risk of death from causes including respiratory illnesses, heart disease and cancer, the AP reports. Other research has linked waist size to dementia, asthma and breast cancer.

Hmm .... we have noticed a WEE bit of a top on our muffin lately -- time to hit the gym.

    there was this one girl in my art class .... she had a huge muffin top.... she also wore pants that were tight and probably a size too small as well as a shirt that showed her waist..... we also sat on stools in this class and she sat in such a way so the majority of her ass crack was out of her pants and in plain view along with her muffin top..... gross
