I was heading back from Japan and my plane was riding smoothly ..... after an hour on the plane i got tired of watching the dumb-ass movie they were showing so i feel asleep the next thing i know iam waking up with the oxegen in my face and a stewertress asking me to put it on..... ( i have a fear of planes crashing ) so iam freaking out breathing alll my damned oxegen and freaking out so i start getting that feeling in the pit of your stomach that you get when you are falling so iam looking out the window when we start fallling..... iam like floating out of my seat so i start screaming somones starts screaming 9/11 !!!! then we stop i hit my headd on the lugggage thig above your head and the we start to ride smoothly and make an emergency stop ........ i never rode that airline again....

First off I hate Paris, France... It was the dirtiest city I've ever been in. Anyway, the day I was to leave, I was going through the security at the Parisian airport. In my check in luggage, they stopped me becuase of a LETTER OPENER in the shape of a daggar from Toledo, Spain in my checked luggage that was wapped in tissue and in a cardbord box. They made me open my luggage and remove it. I had to go through the passport check twice! On the way to find my terminal, I was running like mad and crying trying to get people out of my way. When I made it to the terminal, there was a stewardess waiting for me. When she saw me in tears, she got me a glass of water and escorted me onto the plane. The group I was traveling with were going to leave me alone. I was 17 and those bitches were going to leave me with no way to contact our tourguide or the travel company... I will never go back to Paris ever again!!

the vacation itself was wonderful, but the trip was a nightmare. Anyone seen the aeroplan commercial where they show the cute little mini 747? We were on that plane... my son is 6'3", I'm not exactly tiny and we had turbulence to the point they didn't so much serve us as toss sandwiches at us as they ran up the aisle.. oh, and someone at Sunquest thought that turkey sandwiches served on raisin bread was a good idea.
I did learn one interesting thing... it's very interesting clearing Customs at 3 am. (Smuggling anything? No. Wonderful - luggage will eventually show up over there - good luck.)

I guess you won't be going on that plane anytime soon!

I almost never get on a plane voluntarily anyway - I'm claustrophobic, and most Airlines get really pissy when you try to open the windows.

HOWEVER, we've had 45 cm of snow in the past 24 hours and that's not even a record for the year so far... I'm kinda at the point when I'd strap myself to the friggin' *wing* to get someplace warm.

Yes, they do frown on opening windows in planes! I am the same way about planes - just in the past few years. I have to take my latop with a game on it to get my mind off of it. It's not the flying that bothers me. It's the close quarters and nowhere to go! I'm flying to TX in April with my daughter, her 2 month old baby and my 4 year old granddaughter. Yikes!

Worse - Jarlsburg. It was disgusting... even the 1stborn eating machine wouldn't finish it.

for some reason when I first read that my brain parsed it as Carlsberg - and I was like - serving Carls with a turkey on Raisin bread.. What in Hades were the cooks smoking? Obviously they were into Raisin' hell...

Ugh, yes! My entire "vacation" in Florida over spring break to visit my grandparents was TERRIBLE. We took a plane there, and I was worried, because at the time I had cut myself and it was a tad too deep, so I was worried (i stitched myself up) that I'd be caught going through security line. Then we got there and they took me and my mom and three younger siblings to disney world, which really wasn't fun to me, but it wasn't MISERABLE. I started getting REALLY sick with strep throat, so I had to go to the urgent care center, and we didn't have a car, so we took a taxi. The urgent care took way too long, we had to call and get ANOTHER taxi to go to the ER, which didn't take long at all, but they couldn't all in my prescription because I'd been prescribed narcotics too to manage the pain (it was that bad!). So we're stuck in the middle of the night in downtown Orlando outside an ER, waiting for another taxi, when I had a panic attack (worse than before) and started coughing up blood. This random stranger, named Chris (girl) helped me through all this, while mom yelled at me and we waited over an hour for another taxi to come to take us to the drug store. Then the next day, they canceled plans to ride horses, which was the only thing I was really excited for there. So that's my vacation horror story!

Big bummer! You'll have to try it another time. It really is fun! And.......I would have been upset about not getting to ride horses as well!

I was in Atlantic City with my boyfriend. We had just gotten there, and it was a long ride, because we lived in Long Island at the time, so I decided to hop in the shower. I heard him yelling something while i was in the bathroom, so I come out...in just my little tiny hotel towel, and there are two hotel security guards standing there. They just let themselves into the room, after my BF told them not to come in, not to come in, but they did anyway.
We were LIVID....the head of securtity came up to our room and apologized profusely...it was a mess...so we stayed there that night, but changed hotels the next night.
We ordered room service at the new hotel, and the room service guy, didn't knock, nothing, just walked right in....I sleep naked....it was not a good weekend! LOL

A flight delayed 12 hours returning from Punta Cana. I was fine when I arrived for my flight. By the time I boarded 12 hours later I was really sick. On the flight home we also experienced the worst turbulence. I was so glad when we landed.

I don't know if this will be considered a "vacation" story but we had to evacuate our town during Hurricane Frances and we drove to Tallahassee. I brought my pets with me and my husband, daughter, her fiance and our cats were all sharing a suite. The second night we were there, I woke up to find my cats lined up at the foot of my bed just staring. I sat forward and was speaking gently to them and it was then that I noticed they were looking PAST me and at the wall above my head. I didn't even turn around. I did a flying leap off the bed, smacked face first into the wall at the foot of the bed, turned around to see the cats all stalking this giant BUG that was on the wall. Freaked me right out. I coulnd't sleep for four days! I had to keep guard over any more giant bugs invading the room! The hotel shall remain nameless...

I travel the world literally but that was a scary situation and when your young its even worse

I travel very often also so I honestly wasn't laughing at your situation! I was laughing at the way you put it and then put in how much you loved you Mom and Dad! There are places that I am extremely careful, especially when leaving the hotel to grab a bite to eat or pick up something at a local store I may have forgotten to pack. As a woman and when I have to travel alone I am sometimes in places where I will ask the hotel concierge to find me someone trustworthy to escort me when I have to leave the hotel. Even if it's another woman, it seems better to be taking that little walk to the store with the two of us instead of me trying to blend with the locals and getting into some trouble!

Im older now and it is a great memorie but i travel so much and see alot of people get F(*& UP that i dont have time to say to them that hey you DUM ASS put your $ in your pocket or dont show your id #s

Have been on some great vacations, best one was Australia, then the cruise to Alaska, Going to Hawaii in Dec, then back on cruise to Alaska in May, can't wait

After 18yrs of driving a semi, and saving every diome I could, that is how I do it. After I pay my bills, and buy groc, what ever is left over at the end of the week goes into savings. Mark Vacation fund, and it is not touched till then.

I have a good friend that I worked with in the school system. One "end of year" party she said she always wanted to drive a truck. I told her to go for it while she was young. She did that very year and has her own rig and has been driving for about 10 years now.

Cool, I pulled High wide and Heavy loads, I did that for 17 of my 18 yrs, I worked for C&H Transportation out of Dallas, Tri State out of Joplin, McGil/Trism out of Marietta, Ga, and Ranger out of Jacksonville, FL, ask her if she ever heard of any of those companies, My husband pulls for Transport America, he has been there 14 yrs, that is how we me, 12 yrs ago,

Have been very fortunate not to have a horror vacation story. The "worst" ?that has ever happened was the airlines lost a piece of my luggage during my flight back home. Luckily it was located and delivered to my home the next day intact.

Not really I been lucky enough to have a lot of good vacations. We were in Gulf Port during a Hurricane, it was scary, but an experience I am glad I got to see. Luckily it was not a bad one otherwise it probably would have been a horror story.

I'm not so much into travelling around, i mostly stay at home on my vacation, but even on my few holiday trips nothing scary or dangerous ever happened.
