I have a pet rosy Boa named Eddie and he's a little darling :)
I also have a milk snake named Betty. She's a bit of a bag if you bug her. Sort of like an old female cat lol

Not really.. being raised right here in the desert region of Texas we encounter snakes of all kinds quite frequently. Especially late spring to late fall... So, I am not really afraid of them but I do give them a wide space or I get out my shotgun or garden hoe and send them off to snake heaven or whatever. I do admit that I watch carefully during the warm to hot seasons. Especially at night time.....................
PS... I only kill the poisonous and aggressive ones. I leave the others alone. They eat rats, mice, birds and all forms of rodents and small pests.... http://images.sodahead.com

These are the two that get killed the most here in Texas..... While the Coach Whip isn't poisonous its bite is terrible and it CHASES you and very aggressive.. While the RATTLESNAKE IS DEADLY and its bite is vicious.

Yes without a doubt I was helping my mom in her garden accouple years back. A gardener snake came out of the zucchini and squash plants I was out of there faster then I had moved in years. I was mowing grass once a frog came out and then I saw a baby gardener snake I ran

I've never met a snake before but I've always wanted one! We're gonna get one soon straight after my dad gets his reptile licence. What would be a good non venomous snake to have as a pet? I'm really excited!

I don't go looking for them, but I'm not afraid of them either. We have a few poisonous snakes where I live, one is called a rock rattler, they are a dusty pink color to match the earth and rocks, most of the ones I've seen are the size of a large pencil, I have seen one (dead) that was as big around as my arm.

The other venomous snake we have is called a black tail rattler (aka velvet tail rattler)

Those are the main two we have to watch out for, of course there are a variety of nonvenomous snakes too, various whip snakes, rat snakes and such. There is one with a red belly that is interesting to see.

Oh gosh, you would never make it where I live, we have snakes, mountains and lots of insects, we are one of the places where people from all over the world come to collect insects.

I came face to face with a diamond back rattlesnake while climbing rocks in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I had just reached the top of the rock face and pulled my head above the edge and surprised the snake. It rattled at me and I let go of the rock. I fell about 20 feet hitting one of my friends on the way down. I scraped my elbows pretty badly and my friend yelled at me for knocking him down, but there was no way I was staying anywhere near that snake.

IF you live near the Gulf Coast Like I do ..
you learn a very HEALTHY Respect for the buggers quite quickly indeed ..
(my sis-in-law was frightened to step outside once my brother and I shared memories of all the poisonous nasties we've come across while stationed in the South USA!)
