Do you have a different political ideal to that as what you see as politically attainable?

I'm an Individualist Anarchist. It's not happening, but that's not the point.

Are you an apathetic anarchist or an idealist anarchist?

Apathetic would be the most applicable between the two. Like I said, it's not happening. It's about not giving moral and intellectual support to a system of violence, coercion and deception run by incompetent opportunists who only care about maintaining their power and privilege.

    Good point.

In a "more transparent" world what would your existing or theorised political system be?

I assume you agree that consent based laws are important.

    None. No government. Anarchy.

It's a thing called Distributism, and had as it's biggest proponents a Pope, and two 19th Century English writers. (Chesterton and Belloc). It's pretty complicated to explain, but it's certainly worth a Google, if you're interested. I believe it would work. But where to start? It's not likely to happen anywhere in my life time. We might be able to get it on the stage in another 20 years or so. But people seem to feel locked in to Dems and Republicans.

I'm an old Goldwater Republican fiscal conservative pragmatic. I believe a benevolent utilitarian approach to society is attainable as the voting populace becomes educated enough to quit living in denial of science. Will I live to see it? No chance.

Can you give me some articles that describe if only in outline your political ideals?

In your blurb you read like a moderate Liberation, correct me if I'm wrong.

:Hmmm. I guess "The Open Society and Its Enemies" is closest to my political vein, though I wouldn't call it an ideal. Pragmatism and Idealism mix only to the degree that the latter is willing and able to flex. I retain some of Barry's Libertarian ideas because the least government IS the best government... which means it operates efficaciously... offering the taxpayer the best bang for the buck. The Libertarian "ideal" has never been implemented in history and it never will be. I read all sides and have no "articles". I find Zakaria's GPS the most educational political program.

I would like for self-serving, instant gratification fans (both dems and repubs) to think beyond THEIR immediate needs and try to see the ripple effect and long term effects of all the crap they have voted in for the past 50 years. I'm pretty sick of all the bitching and complaining about how crappy things have gotten when THEY voted the crooks in and got exactly what they asked for.

The funny thing about that statement is that it probably means something different to me as it does you or anybody else.

    A good sentiment though.

a Brit, maybe you have a similar scenario.

Do you find that whatever party wins that initially they appeal to the centre though as successive terms go by the fringe comes out to play, be it left or right?

Wondering what your take on Thatcher was?

She seemed a good leader when it came to international faire though she seemed a bit like a "Femanazi". I'm sure the sexism was stacked against he3r and she over compensated some though she seemed brutal at times e.g The Falklands conflict.

How could any society have endured "Prohibition" and have learned so little as to try and make the consumption of a common weed illegal? We need to include "critical thinking skills" as an aspect of the curriculum in public schools.

There have been historically some successful benevolent dictators (am currently reading "Asoka") like Marcus Aurelius (maybe not so nice to Christians however). The problem seems to be their spoiled children, like Caligula.

I think I erred in the last blog. Commodus was, if memory serves, Aurelius's son... even if spawned by his wife's purported gladiator lover.

KISS. Not the rock band... Keep It Simple Stupid.

Not that you're stupid. Basically, BS seems to be taking over and the basics are being neglected.
