I was baffled when I saw the other question and now I'm compelled to ask.

evolution is a scientific theorem while creationism is based on faith and is not considered scientific to any degree.

One is derived from a book written before people understood how things work the other is a theory that the overwhelming majority of scientist and average people beleive in because though not proven makes more sense.

One believes in magic, the other evidence. Try and work out which one is which.

Well, there are two schools of thought on the theory of our existence, and I believe that where science can't quite make the whole circle meet, then there is a divine hand that fills the gap. A Southern Baptist preacher once preached on this, and using just real good logic he really did explain it well. I was 10 at the time, and it stuck with me this long. It is illogical to think that there is only one or the other extreme.

Creationism is the theory that is derived from the bible. God Created the world in 6 days, Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve etc.
Evolution is the one we were taught in school, we emerge from the water to the land, we change from different types of Monkey, and ta da here we are. and we once had tails.

Well first off monkeys aren't our ancestors we split off into two branches one became the different monkey and gorilla species and the other became our ancestors such as the cro magnon and the dead end Neanderthals.

My use of the word "Monkey" was an oversimplification.

No I just have a tendency to oversimplify. Chimpanzee, Gorilla, Ape, Peter Tork I end up saying Monkey.

they are NOT mutually exclusive -
just something for idiots to argue over -

no one knows anything for sure - creation/evolution are both just opinions/suppositions/ - maybe even complete fabrications -
the answer may be something no one ever or will ever consider/think of -

The difference being, Science is constantly trying to disprove its theories, while Religion forbids such a process.

your statement is 100% true -
but it does not mean that either "philosophy" is any closer to the truth than the other -
there may be a third answer that we are not equipped to find or understand if we are staring at it 24/7/365 !

There must already be thousands of third answers, in the 'religion' category alone. Plus, a lot of other wild guesses, some more educated than others, but all equally valid. I just theorized that our Universe is one, much larger, living organism among many others,

When we start making up random stories about such things, the whole discovery process gets much more complicated. :O)
