I hear enough from my mother about extended family and what they are up to. I don't care to have to sit with a few hundred people and listen to how much this one hates that one or be questioned about how much money I make or any other personal questions. That's all family reunions do. Did you ever notice that the nosiest person in the family is always the one organizing it????? 'nuff said!
Oh that is terrible..my husbands family started having a small gathering after his mom died 3 yrs. ago..my family has always had one. Once you start it it becomes easier t get people together. Ours is always the same Saturday or Sunday each yr. at the same place..makes getting the place reserved easier and we generally take turns on my moms side being in charge..we have games and an auction which raises the funds for the next yr. and we purchase the meat with this money so it is easier for the others just to bring the side dishes. The auction is just stuff from your house..or something you made..we also have a door prize drawing and my family has many that sing so they bring their guitars and a mic and sing..also sell cd's my family has made over the yr. and have sold video of all the yrs. we have had the reunion. It is great fun and I know all my relatives up to the 6th generation..I strongly suggest having one..my family is very tight and always has been ..probably due to this type of gathering.
Want no part of that, bunch of misfits, is it too much to ask for 1 hour of no drinking? That drinking sure can mess up what should be a happy, memorable get together.
we have ours at a park that is alcohol free..my grandma would have beat the crap out of any of us if we came there drinking...she was native american with a terrible temper..
My family would sooner see me in prison than at a reunion, the only family that understood what I am and why was my grandma. Besides, my family is like a pack of vultures, hovering over the next rich relative to pass on....
